Maintenance / Connection problems
Published 24/11/2010 @ 15:23:04, By antp
It seems that it is not possible to have the database on another server, OVH restricts connections made from their shared-hosting server... Actually it works "a little", which in this case is not enough
So I have to move the whole site in 1 time (pages + images + database)
I can't do that right now, so I'll put the site back online and prepare the big move on another day... (tomorrow if everything goes well)

Second try, this time I'll move the whole site (pictures + database) directly... it will take more time (probably already 4 hours for copying pictures).

Too bad. Because I could've identified a 1948-53 Chevrolet 5000 C.O.E. series in "Stolen."

You'll still be able to identify it on the new server
50% of the copy of images
(and I still have to copy thumbnails then... or I could let the server regenerate them, I'll see)
(edit: I could copy both at the same time actually...)

Images are copied, but I copy thumbnail images too, so the server won't have to regenerate them. About 2h-2h30 remaining.

While you're moving images to the new server, Antoine, on the list of vehicles owned by IMCDB users, you're missing this one:

Unless Jazz sold it.

maybe it will be worse than the old one I hope all will work. There may be bugs I didn't see, so be careful when testing
It should be ok within 30 min (due to a mistake I made, it is not yet done...)

It seems to work...
You can access the new server through http://new.imcdb.org/ until the DNS are updated
If you post links in comments, please post them without the "new" in the URL, even if they do not work right now later I'll drop that "new" sub-domain so links posted with it would not work anymore then.
If you notice anything unusual let me know (here or through Facebook chat, if you have me on Facebook)
Within 24-48h, (www.)imcdb.org will also redirect to the new one (to know if you are on the old or new sever: the old one is in read-only and displays a maintenance message at the top of the page, which will be replaced by a link to the new one soon).

Is there a possibility to put a remark on the main page of the old IMCDB, that there is a new page?
Otherwise many members could be going lost, as they cannot find it again. Not very few have noticed the forum.
