Vel Satis is the poor man's Avantime.
I prefer Vel Satis.

It was in 1997, for the Kangoo, but somewhat (unwillingly) predictor of Avantime & Vel Satis "success"?

Spotted yesterday, a characterful Beetle:
It's very weird, but I never seem to see Beetles any more. Not even at classic car shows. Yet, there is probably still loads out there. Not that I miss them though I do like the way this looks (honest patina rather than a restored minter or one of those awful ratlook ones). I still see loads of T1 and T2 Campers (not at shows but on the streets around here).
Something for Walter seen just now on my road:
I took a front pic as well, but my phone seems to have ate it and corrupted the file (it comes out as a mess and it won't convert from NRW to JPG).

"it will never work"
In translated form the advert was also known abroad, back then.
Avantime was for me too big like for such bodystyle. On the other hand, even more strange (+ often useless) designs became succesful and "worked" in the last decade - unfortunately

True - fits well to the autumn scenery.

Unfortunately I was still to busy to upload my Scotland-sighting -but they will come. Promised.
Anyways, here my pics from my -quite successful trip yesterday to the
http://www.veterama.de/en/home
No offer-price noticed:
Offered for 5500 €:
For 3500 €:
A handmade, unique Rolls Royce for just 15.000 €. Although it wears French plates, it lived until a few week in the UK (see the MOT-sticker):
For 9999 €:
Not for sale, only for decoration on the stand of the biggest German Opel-Club:
As far I remember, it was the cheapest offer (but I was very busy with my catches, so I didn't looked carefully:
It's first life this Landy spent in Denmark, on the island of Römö:
Although it has the inscription "GEMBALLA", I would declarate it as a hopeless wreck. IIRC the price was 14.800 €
Hard for me to accept this not very mint-conditiones clunker as a classic...
Other offers (besides the usual Mercedes-flood):
Quite a lot hearses had been there, some for sale, some in daily use:
UK-plates are obviously very uninteresting for the collector's-scene. The content of this box (it's a British dealer) hasn't changed since years:
@walter: sorry, but this catch is reserved for my friend Hiroshi in Yokohama:
Finally I want to show you one of the greatest inventions for spare parts markets-hunters:
I got this idea last year - and got as Christmas-present by my parents-in-law (a tenant in their house didn't used it any more). My wife was slightly *cough* irritated about my idea, but I'm still so happy, that I had it with me - I've found the stuff in the farest area on this market, so I had to carry it at least for 3km to my car!
The next time I will it take it there, too (and if I may can visit Beaulieu next year, to there, too)

Interesting cars.
The Rolls with French plates has WW-plates, which are temporary garage plates (like the Z-plates in Belgium), so it is not really registered I think: that's just to be able to use it on road.
The R19 seems indeed out of place in that state.

So it seems that in the meantime you found a way: http://imcdb.opencommunity.be/forum_topic-7874-59689-Philippines_Trip_Sightings.html
The other way (allowing more than one picture in a message) is to upload the picture to an image-sharing site (like imgur, postimage, etc.), copy the given code (usually named forum-code or bbcode, the one containing a [img] tag), and pasting it in your message where you want to make appear the picture.

Phew! I have to hurry on now with my Scotland-pics! On Saturday hopefully there will be the next bunch of interesting catches for you, as I'm planning to visit the http://www.historicar.net/ . Maybe I can meet there Animatronixx again, as in the last years he participated with his Hearse-club.
And on Sunday we will stay for six days in London (an Air Berlin-voucher has to be used before it expires).
So here we go:
This Camper from an unknown coachbuilder still stands at the ferry-terminal in Ijmuiden. The plate is expired since 1999.
Unspectucalar car - but due the passengers it's remarkable. With this Skoda Octavia with Bulgarian plates two older (65+ generation) Japanese couples are on a big Europe-trip:
British plates made with German tools. Seen at Edinburgh Airport:
This T2-Camper you can rent (parking of the Dalwhinnie-Destillery):
I'm proud of my skills to pack a car: (LIDL-parking in Fort William. Behind the fence there are the rails of the "Hogwarts Express"-steamtrain:
Seen on the Isle of Skye. Is it JDM?
Wild, sexy, Haggis and a lighting store - very IMCDb-ish items
A trip on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tk7dwiWj-8M
One of the very very few sights of in fact extinct orign UK-trucks:
It covers the view of one of the 20 most photographed motifs on the world:
http://www.eileandonancastle.com/
A pic dedicated to cl82
During our stay at http://www.lighthouseholidaycottages.co.uk/ the
http://www.solwayvehicleenthusiastsclub.co.uk/ held a meeting directly in front of our cottage.
@cl82: this was the view from my bed: directly on a Rootes-nose
This motif made dsl excited. It is a very rare orignal special edition, he told me:
What is this? Never seen such a thing before.
Size 900/13, any idea from what vehicle?
The one and only ERF-truck, I've spotted on ca.2000 km on UK-roads. In Ayr, at the time of an IMCDb-user-meeting:
Two IMCDb-user-cars on one pic:
At our one-day-trip to Belfast. New brand for me.
Unfortunately the pic of a fully armored Northern Irish-typish anti-riot-police-Land Rover failed
This was our view, when we entered the ferry-terminal in Newcastle. A Germany Ferrari-Club made a few days in UK. They had at least 30 cars with them, I think.
Also on board a few Subaru-fans.
Odd shape:
These lemonade-bottles (bought in this great antique/curios-shop on Skye, as the tin-toy-cars) seem to be UK-unique. They were narrow in the middle, above the kink there is a glass-marble and a gasket-ring:
This pic was made back home. I've filled dishwasher-tabs in them, to clean off the dirt of cecades.

When I travelled in Scotland, it was with a Haggis bus, but it was only one month old back then and not decorated (yet?)
(make = Unvi, obviously based on Mercedes-Benz)
We saw other buses, including the "wild & sexy" one from your pic.

The Camper is JDM, a Honda Acty which was never offered here (we only got that model up to the eighties). The Camper body is interesting in that it is a British Romahome one and I suspect that it is somewhat older than the van.

the second BYD e6 I see... the first one was a few minutes before that, near there (or it was the same one, but as it was going in the opposite direction as I was, I do not see how it could arrive before me there)

I thought Romahome worked only with Citroën vehicles (I discovered the make through C15 based Hylo models). But in fact they also did some campers with Japanese microvans (mostly Honda?) and even with Jiffy basis!
(Jiffy based Romahome)
Not a Romahome product, but just to remember the way it's done in some other countries
