The problem is that you cannot replace gasoline by ethanol for all cars, as it is impossible to produce enough of it. Same for colza oil.

I would venture to guess that ethanol would be a suitable replacement for gasoline since they're already building cars that run on the stuff.

For once, I am glad I'm old and won't live to see it. Can't bear the thought of running around in a Steamer

yeah I believe also after we ran out of gas, rare vehicles should be driven, but the price for the substance that will replace gasoline will be too high (that is why normal cars have to be converted to something else.)

When, is a good question. Most predictions say <50 years based on what we know about existing sources.

Most cars can probably be modified to run on alcohol so classics will probably still be around.

I agree for those that can afford them. I also see a lot of my generation in buicks and mercurys. But 30 0r 40 years from now we probably will be out of gasoline and probably will be driving a luxury electric go-cart.

Hmmm, You know that would make a good question. When will we run out of gasoline (Petrol)? :heink:

And let’s say we do run out of gasoline in 30 years (just an example) What will become of the gas dependant vehicles? They will become utterly useless? Classic cars will no longer be able to be driven to car shows??? :boggled:

Lincoln/Cadillac were the standard status symbol of the '50s-'70s and that's what most senior citizens drive today.

I often wonder what my generation will be driving as we get older. I can't imagine myself driving a cumbersome Buick with a beaded seat cover.

That's an interesting point. I would assume Lexus/Acura or the high end German car makers or even maybe Cadillac since they're the current lux-o-boats. It makes sense since Lincoln/Cadillac were the standard status symbol of the '50s-'70s and that's what most senior citizens drive today.

I am here to tell you that getting old is no fun: what doen't hurt, doesn't work. Enjoy your youth while you can

I fully agree with you, Im going to be 53 at the end of the month, I figured drag racing or truck driving would have done me in by now. If I had known I was gonna live this long, I'd taken better care of myself. Now Im determined to stick around for as long as I can. As far as older/younger drivers go, I'll ride with a senior citizen much more comfortably than I would with a teenage driver... Its really a moot point, Im a lousy passenger...
