Thanks - have checked that out; will do it in future. Sometimes hard to be a newbie!

I am emailing two more pictures of the background car in Manon des Sources (the golden brown one that I think might be a Peugeot; http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_100392-unknown.html). The radiator is visible for only a split-second, and I managed to capture that glimpse - maybe it will make it easier to identify.

antp, it is now (at last!) available on DVD. Don't know your taste in movies, but you won't be worse off watching these - I promise. Can still not understand why they are not much higher rated than they already are.

I do not know it at all (only by name)
From what you describe, I suppose that we could consider that the truck has a role, so 2 stars.

OK, you probably know Manon des Sources better than I do (esp. since I have to rely on subtitles!), but the role that the truck plays is that it brings water to the town after Manon found the source in the mountain and decided to block it, in the process cutting off Ugolin's water on the Romarins farm, as well as the town's. This was a deliberate action on her part to punish all of them for their collusion in hiding the spring which lead to her father's (Jean Cadoret/ de Florette) death so that the Soubreyans could get the farm (with the spring that they blocked on it) for their carnation-growing.
The whole water issue is central to the story, as is the delivery of water to the town; hence my uncertainty about the role of the truck (which really only appears stationary in one scene). I am really open to your suggestions here.

2-star = at least a small interaction with a character, or a role in an action

No half-stars on IMCDb, I think.
And you can change the star by posting the comment

Not a problem - I'm a little undecided on that myself, and see I did indeed indicate one star. Do you have half-stars in stock?
Jun
I thought that you need 1-star for water truck. I'm sorry
