Perhaps a wiki system on the imcdb server would be good? I don't know what would be easier.

Info could be put on Wikipedia but maybe they would not like to have so much detail.
Else http://cars.wikia.com could be used too, but again it is not really fitting what we would here.
Maybe we could start a new site on wikia.com, or rather I could put a wiki system on imcdb server (as having history of changes would be useful, I suppose?)

I know Neptune worked on making that extensive encyclopedia for the Expedition, and I've posted some ways to ID vehicles such as the Ford LTD CV.

Don't forget the Camry guide I made! (If you haven't taken a look yet: http://forum.imcdb.org/forum_topic-3288-Toyota_Camry.html )

Anyway, yes I think this is a wonderful idea! I would love to make many more guides as I pay attention to many year-to-year and generation-to-generation changes on most cars, especially ones no one else seems to care much about like Toyotas and Hondas. The problem is, to make a year-to-year encyclopedia for every car ever made would be a whole lot of data. Maybe a whole seperate site would be needed...

I agree. Links to short articles and info about vehicles is a good idea.
antp
That could be a good idea indeed.

The easiest way to start this would be a glossary ... which I keep on asking for

Antoine's latest additions will be very useful for this, as next to the model link a further link for model identification and extra infos could be placed. This then leads to the glossary which can supply additional information that is useful and informative. The same 'model info' link can be used for each individual entry, e.g. next to the 'IMDb' link.

I do realize that we have a section on the forum for that, but I think that doing something else might be more useful. For example, it can be a bit more difficult to look for a topic here on the forums if it has been pushed back, or something like that.
antp
Again, that was the purpose of that section of the forum  Hence the original rule of 1 topic per make, to make it easy to use.
But a forum is not very easy to use for that, a wiki-like site is probably better.

Possibly including links to some of the encyclopaedic sites like http://www.renaultoloog.nl/renaultoloog.htm
?
antp
In a way the "useful info..." section of the forum was made for that, but it would maybe be better to have these info on some pages directly on the site...
