I'll keep that in mind. I actually did put the fictional Mayberry squad car license plate number in the movie comments for "The Andy Griffith Show," and even re-created one using the Acme License Plate maker.

I don't think it's very useful. Will anyone search by license plate number? If not then just leave that info in the photo. Maybe if IMCDb automatically queried all DLVA/smog/etc plate databases to get the car info, that would be nice
For one car used in various films, it'd be nice to have a feature to "link" these vehicle entries together, but the license plates are not always the same. Also, as was mentioned by others, different cars often use the same movie plate numbers.

Nice feature.
But we should discuss a format how to fill it. With '-', capitals etc.

Typing hundreds of numbers and letters daily? No thanks.

This would be a very useful feature.

I think this is a good idea; there are lots of movie-making companies that reuse some plates in different movies. Could be interesting to see how many cars have the same registration, or just to see how many movies the same car has been in.
But it may not be as simple as adding a field; it should contain the country of origin as well; i mean if speaking of the Bullitt plate it should say "US, CA, JJZ 109"
I could help with this if needed.
Any ideas?

I have thought about such a field, too. Sometimes the plate is better visible while watching the film than on the snapshot, esp. when car or camera are moving. Sometimes it becomes unreadable when reducing the picture or file size. The contributor could enter the correct registration in the field then.
It could be difficult in the case of a faked plate, when the real plate is known. Or when the car has different plates during the movie (www.imcdb.org/vehicle_226445.html). Which one should be recorded in this case?
All in all I think this could be a nice feature, but I doubt that it will be accepted by most contributors (like the screentime or the foreign movie title fields, which often stay empty).

At first it is what was said about listing cars seen in movies, you know
