@tw2003 - I'm not a validating admin nor a German speaker, so won't attempt to comment directly on each case. But I am a fan of documentaries and your descriptions of them suggest to me that each could be worth pursuing. The other criterion is that the films have to be openly available - is http://swrmediathek.de a well known site which is likely to have a reasonable audience?? Have any of them been released elsewhere (eg shown on TV?? available on DVD??) If you can tick yes to either question, you may well have made a good enough case for approval.

Yes the SWR Mediathek is open to use for all and all mentioned documentary has first been published on TV. SWR is a regional part of the ARD, the first german TV channel since ages

I'd tend to support the first one. Not absolutely sure about the second and third, though. Would like to have more opinions, first before we say you can upload them for definite.

As an aside - its good to see that you've asked before listing. I wish more people followed this example as it saves problems for both admin and contributors.
dsl

Hi antp,

here are some more details. I will number then in the order of the main post:

1) In this documentary the focus is mainly on the south western part of germany (Baden-Württemberg and Rheinland-Pfalz) and the development of traffic, traffic rules and driving behaviour in this area from the mid 50s to the 80s. Think about driving 100 kmph in inner city (it was allowed) and why it has changed. Several developments are packed in nice little parts with a bit dry humor. Length is ~90 minutes.
I would not enter much of the common cars like VW. It would make no sense. However you will find some specialities like a Glas Cabriolet or an open police car by Mercedes-Benz.

2) It's obviously a documentary about Porsche 911. From the Prototypes to new. It shows sequences with driver / owner interviews and 911s from all eras.

3) Focus on one make for a letter. Old and new like Audi (R8), or Brütsch Mopetta. It's a kind of encyclopedia of cars produced in the regions named under 1). Here i think if the cars are too common they could be left out but the rare ones could be documented.

I suggest one of the german speaking admins to take short look at the films. It's maybe a bit special that it concentrates on those specific regions but it resembles the german motoring

Anyway. Thanks for the great work with IMCDb. I really enjoy it since I found it over prewarcars.com . I like solving "puzzles" even if I get it wrong sometimes.

I'm not fond of documentaries (the original purpose of the site is referencing cars playing a role in movies, not just making a car picture database), but I guess that they may be interesting indeed; I asked other admins to give their opinion.

It would be interesting to have a short summary of each documentary (description/purpose).

About what to include from these if they are accepted, it should be limited to vehicles on which the documentary focuses, and not too many of the (back then) ordinary vehicles just passing there from traffic shots. Though that for old ones, it is less strict than for newer ones.

Hi,
i found 3 interesting documentaries at the SWR mediathek (http://swrmediathek.de/index.htm) with lot of interseting material for IMCDb.

"Als der Südwesten fahren lernte" (http://swrmediathek.de/player.htm?show=8d404830-9a57-11e4-abd3-0026b975f2e6). Mainly contains short films from the mid 50s to the 80s.

"Mythos Porsche 911" (http://swrmediathek.de/player.htm?show=87e4a750-9665-11e4-bfa0-0026b975f2e6).
Loads of Porsche 911

and

"Das Lexikon der Automarken im Südwesten" (http://swrmediathek.de/player.htm?show=9d87b4b0-8ffa-11e4-ad81-0026b975f2e6).
Covering both old and modern cars.

Would be nice to add them if you are ok with it.

I might be able to fill them with several pics (need to find some time though).
