Hatchback on stilts, but still a hatchback to me.

to me the Crosstrek/XV , like the Outback and the Forester ( and i could add various competitors ... ) , are nothing else than hatches or wagons in heels..

But i will accept the way we'll list them , no matter which one it is

I haven't figured that one out either. It's advertised as a small SUV in the US.

It's classed as a small SUV by the US Environmental Protection Agency, and as a small station wagon by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. So even the US government can't agree what class it belongs in.

This. As a Crosstrek owner myself, the California DMV classes it as a utility vehicle, so I agree with classifying it as an Off-road/SUV on IMCDb.

Subaru themselves also markets it as a crossover, as opposed to a normal hatchback.

I would agree with listing it as hatchback.
That's the problem with many crossovers
I'll wait for additional comments before doing the change, in case some are against it.

To me, the XV and Impreza look almost identical: https://maps.app.goo.gl/yXNb3XN3iXdWcxANA

Shouldn't the XV be listed as a hatchback and not a SUV? After all, we list the Outback as a wagon and not a SUV...
