Hi, I'm new to the site and I was wondering... how do you get the pictures off the movie?

I believe most of the contributors have a video capture card in their computer (or an external player for the computer). This allows one to play DVDs on the computer and to capture frames (or movies)to the hard drive.

I Use a Mac G4 10.4.10 and the only software I have that can play movies are: built in dvd player, quicktime 7, and a vlc player for the .vob files. can any of these be used?

If you can run VLC, you should be able to play any DVD or video file and make captures from it.
When you send pictures in zip files, one thing to remember is that the following characters are forbidden in file names on PC, so you should avoid them if you rename the pictures (as most of the admins use a PC) :

In VLC you can configure a hotkey for screenshots, works very easy.
