I like the W140 and W221 the most.

The only that I do not like is W220/221.

The W220 was fine, but looks-wise I'm not sure about the W221, maybe I'll get used to it after a while. The W220 took a little bit of getting used to.

The one and only Mercedes for me is the 300 SEL 6.3 (W 109).
Unfortunately I cannot convince my wife, that's useful and worth to own

Yep. W140s rule.

I like W116 and W126. One of my dream cars would be W126 560SEL

I also like the W221. I know that people call the W140 slab sided, but i think it actually looks quite nice. And why do journalists in motor magazines keep criticising the W221 for looking "ugly", it's a damn side better looking than the Audi A8, BMW E66 and Volkswagen Phaeton.

The S-Klasse peaked @ W140 and then went downhill. I must say the W220 has grown on me a lot after those years, it looks like a W126 after an extreme facelift to me (and I also like the W126 obviously). The W221 is a blasphemy and a reason not to revere Daimler anymore.

BTW, the S-Klasse nameplate only started quite recently, some of the cars in the poll aren't legitimate S-Klasses.

Well S-Class started in 1994 when the W140 models reversed from say, 600SEL to S600L but the cars before this were really predecessors, just with different badging. I'm glad they changed it, because i found it rather confusing. I used to think the W123 was the old C-class until i realised the "E" was for E-Class.

I like the W116, W126, W140 and W221.
I really don't like the W220, i don't know what they were doing when they designed that. I don't know much about the older ones, but i do know they looked beautiful.

Can someone tell me the exact date the W140 stopped production, we have some 1999 listed W140s on the site and i'm not sure about them?

It seems that only the coupé was 1999

I do not know these enough to be sure, the info about the coupé is the result of what I read on wikipedia: the coupé was the only one to have a 1999 as last year
