Poll: Destruction of cars

Hi...
after reading some comments in the database I got the idea for this poll. Some people don't like to see their dream car destroyed in movies (sometimes only for a little laugher ). Speaking of me I don't like to see crashes of Porsches or Mustangs (Arrrrgh, they are making a remake of Bullitt ). So, what do you think?

I only like destructions of cheap like cars . It ticks me off when I see a new, or expensive car get wrecked in a movie or on tv commercials, for example, a Snicker's commercial of some guy throwing trash cans at a parked Cadillac.

I voted the 1st one but actually what I dislike is when they crash old cars.
I have not problem with crashing recent cars, i.e. still in production or recently ended which are very common on roads.
I dislike when they do that with old "classic" cars, or cars that begin to be rare (even if they were common previously and/or if they are cheap).
Of course, what I say is valid for movies with chases and other entertaining car action (e.g. the Bentley in "The Longest Yard" is a nice crash - the fact that it is expensive do not change anything for me).
Useless detroying like in the video posted by Wasserspeier is stupid, I agree

For some reason, I hate seeing Ford F-Series trucks/Broncos from 1980-1996/7 get destroyed. I love that generation of Ford trucks, they were great looking vehicles. That's why the last scene of 'Deja Vu' pained me so much

I don’t like seeing Ford Expeditions, Classics or Rarities get totaled (in movies or out in the real world) ...

Destruction is OK for me but I don't like to see old cars destroyed. If a vehicle is 15 years old or older then I want it to be spared not crashed. It's perfectly allright to destroy new cars because they are probably still made and are not very rare.

Well here i am , nah im joking, i am with Antoine, ill vote for the first one but i hate seing old cars no longer in production getting destroyed (like Da Vinci Code DS, ) , i love car destruction as you already know but i am conscious of what is worth destroying and what isnt, id never destroy a rare car, like this one http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_109509-De-Tomaso-Deauville.html
What i actually like is every car destruction but with exceptions such as rare cars, and for the brand new ones i dont have much problem i guess, if they are yet in production we have lots of them.

It's hard to see crashes that are staged for modern-made period films, but one would hope that simple economic rule would apply. A studio would look for the least expensive self-mobile vehicle that could be made to look nice with little time or effort. The downside to this is that someone with very little money could have instead aquired the car and begin to enjoy the car hobby. Thankfully, a lot of fiberglass was used in making "Christine."

The making of Christine like the making of Back to the future helped the car to be known: there would probably not be as many of these Plymouth or DeLorean left if the car was not popularized by the movie, despite they wrecked few

Ha. Well, I used to be terrible on this subject (I got all upset after any Ford Tempo or Mercury Topaz was destroyed in a film). Now, eh. The percentage of Tempo's and Topaz' destroyed in film is very small when you think that there are over three million of them around. This is actually the same with some of the other cars I am fond of, like the Ford Crown Victoria and LTD, the Ford Explorer and Ford F-Series. They are all very common cars. I'd obviously would be annoyed if they wrecked a rare variation of one of those cars (like the 2003 Ford F-150 Heritage Edition), but thus far I haven't seen them do it.
In some cases, like antp pointed out, it is good that cars get destroyed. The 1958 Plymouth has become very popular and sought after because of Christine (even though two dozen or so '58 Plymouth's were destroyed for the film).

I voted for the third alternative, but if we want films to be authentic, we probably have to accept that (budget permitting) anything can get wrecked, as in real life; however we have often detected on this site a clone being substituted, a scrap car that's been given a quick respray to resemble a good one.

I used to think it was a bit of a shame if a really nice car was destroyed in a film (Bond movies seemed to be worst offenders), but now I really don't mind because I've come to realise they never destroy truly valuable collector's items on purpose. Often, if they are going to blow up or destroy a car, they use a replica or an empty shell (with all the valuable bits taken out). As long as it is part of a good movie, I think it's worth it, in The Long Good Friday they blew up a real Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, but so what, it was a great film. If a fine car gets destroyed in the making of a really bad film, then I think it's more of a waste. To me anything that's still in mass-production is totally expendable, unless it's a limited production supercar. Even if it's a shiny new £100,000 Mercedes S600, it's still wreckable. Now if it was a classic Mercedes W100 600, then that would be more of a travesty (this happens in Witches of Eastwick, but the damage was definetely fixable).
To me what is far, far worse is when great cars get wrecked in accidents because of the flash idiots that attempt to drive them, wreckedexotics.com is full of shocking pictures of this happening.

I voted the first one, but I agree with antp, old rare cars shouldn't be destroyed. Like the Morris Marina ( http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_20017-Morris-Marina-Coupe-ADO28-1972.html ) in Clarkson's movie, I like it, but when I saw this I didn't know that it was such a rare car, then I got a bit upset. The most unforgiveable destruction act in IMCDb is this : http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_75584-Rover-3500-SD1-1986.html
Only a few SD1s were imported to Spain, most of them 2600 version. So a 3500 Vitesse is very very very rare here. But some real life situations are more painful: Only 4 MG Maestros were imported to Spain by 4 different Austin Rover dealerships. One of those Maestros was in my town and now it's scrapped in a junkyard!

IMHO the most unforgivable is http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_130484-Renault-A610-X50-1994.html
These "rare" Spanish Rover could still be reimported from another country where they are less rare, no? Or were they different?

I felt hurted when the SD1 crash because there aren't many SD1s out of England, and if you want to change the steering wheel to the left you need an original dashboard.
PD. The Maestro is rare even in Britain.
It's featured in "Vanishing Old Cars" list

Indeed I forgot that little detail

Most of the mass market cars built before the last ten years or so had a built in self destruct mechanism anyway, so they are really not much of a loss. I had a white Renault 20 that changed colour to brown at the rate of about 5mm per day.
The SD1 and the Maestro were cars with good design, totally let down by being thrown together by a demoralised work force led by a management who were bad at their jobs and pushed into even worse decisions by their idiot political masters.

It is rather the opposite: the few good ones remaining should be "protected"
