Help with a friend's car blog
Published 06/01/2009 @ 02:52:44, By CarChasesFanatic
Hi you all

I have a request for those of you who are able or willing to do it, i have a friend with a car blog, he gets as many pictures as he can (sometimes from the Internet and sometimes taken by himself) of cars all over the world, his purpose with the blog is to have a kind of cars database with nice pictures of cars(he always gets one of 3/4 from the front and one of 3/4 of the back), he wanted me to request in here if some of you could provide him pictures of random cars you have, either parked on the same street you live, or on the parking lot of your work place, just random cars no matter it's importance, i guess you could even provide him pictures of your vehicles for him to submit

All he wants is a car database with just two simple pictures, and to get as many as possible, with this request he finds to get interesting cars from every day and from all over the world thank you, even editions that we may not know but you do because they probably existed in your country

He's a member of IMCDB but even if he submitts a lot he rarely posts so you may not know him very well

This is the blog: http://carphotoarchive.wordpress.com/

Thanks.

So the "friend that we may not know very well" is Coopey ? Well he posts enough to be known on the site, I think  (as he is even admin)

You're lucky you can see those cars where you live.

Many of those in my 2nd messages are taken near my work: there is a company which does engine tuning. I see E30 M3 BMWs every day there

I included only those for which I had a rear view, as I did not always think to do two photos :ohwell:

Ok, I've put the first five. Link: http://carphotoarchive.wordpress.com/

I have some questions about the correct naming of others, though.
1) The BMW, which model is it? I think it's a 327, but if someone could confirm.
2) Which year was the TR6 made in? And, since it isn't British, would that make it a "PI"?
3) I'm not sure if I've named correctly the CR-X. In Belgium, was it called just Civic CR-X and without del Sol?

Thanks again for the pictures

The Del Sol is always a problem
That car was badged Civic CRX, so it is not a late model (they dropped the "Civic" name in 1995 or 1997).
But the ads were using just "CRX" even at that time.
"Del Sol" was not used in Belgium, and actually not in Europe at all if I remember well.

For the two other questions, I can't really help...

Oops, then it's "CRX" without the "-"?
And, I think here in Spain it was CRX del Sol, so at least there was one country which used that name.

Not sure between CRX and CR-X... I still see the car often, I can check its badge  But as I said ads did not use same naming as what was written on the car itself...

Here is a picture of my father's new 1985 Camry, if you will use that

http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=mb4mwy&s=5

I'll provide you with pics of the Marquis in a few days, as right now it's covered in snow unfortunately.

Thanks taxiguy, that Camry looks really cool, and that generation is very rare to find.

However, I'd like to have, if you don't mind, 3/4 front and rear pictures of it like the ones that Antoine posted, because the rear isn't enough seen in the picture you've uploaded.

But I really look forward to adding that Camry to the blog. Which trim level is it?

Ok, I'll take some more pics of it, along with ones of my shiny, freshly-painted Mercury when the %$@! snow finally stops.

And the trim level is the higher-end "LE" by the way. The only other trim level offered for that generation was the unnamed "base". The LE features a nicer interior and body-colored bumpers, among other things.

I'm still unable (too stupid) to mount a pic of my Army-Omega here, but I can send it as jpeg by mail, if you are interested.

To taxiguy:
Thank you very much for the pictures. You've caught some really rare old cars and luckily they're in a very good condition.

1)Buick Centurion: http://carphotoarchive.wordpress.com/2009/01/10/1971-buick-centurion-convertible-coupe-46667/

2)Ford LTD: Don't worry, I got a rear view of another LTD. http://carphotoarchive.wordpress.com/2009/01/10/1973-ford-ltd-coupe/
By the way, the one you posted, since it has vinyl roof, would that make it a Brougham or it must have the logo too?

3)Mercury Montego: I already had a '74 Montego MX Brougham, and I think that yours is the same one.

4)Ford Taurus: http://carphotoarchive.wordpress.com/2009/01/10/1986-ford-taurus/

5)Geo Prizm (great find, and it's immaculate :D): http://carphotoarchive.wordpress.com/2009/01/10/1989-geo-prizm/

6)Cadillac Cimarron: Thanks for the pics. However, I already had one in the blog.

7)Datsun B210 (Thanks a lot for this one. I just loooove old Datsuns :p): http://carphotoarchive.wordpress.com/2009/01/10/1979-datsun-b210-b210-us/

8)Chrysler Newport: http://carphotoarchive.wordpress.com/2009/01/10/1973-chrysler-newport-hardtop-coupe/

9)Chevrolet Caprice: http://carphotoarchive.wordpress.com/2009/01/10/1978-chevrolet-caprice-classic/
Which are the exterior differences with an Impala of the same year?

10)About the Buick, I couldn't find a rear view of the car, but your pic is great and the car isn't common as well. By the way, weren't "Estate Wagons" renamed to "Electra Estate Wagon" in 1980?

11)Buick LeSabre Coupé: http://carphotoarchive.wordpress.com/2009/01/10/1986-buick-lesabre-coupe/
Congratulations, you found a really good example of that rare car. Which trim level is yours? Custom? Hadn't Limited other hubcaps?

12)Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu: http://carphotoarchive.wordpress.com/2009/01/10/1975-chevrolet-chevelle-malibu-coupe/
Again, another immaculate example of those "Colonnade Hardtop Coupés"

Thanks a lot. Keep sending pictures

To Ingo: I'd be glad to have some pics of your K70 in my blog too ;-).
