What did you mean by UK's dismal switch

Well, this switch was for the water heater in the shower (which has its own switch, too). This is the reason, why the UK-electricity annoys me. Not only every fixed electric item (as ovens and water-heaters) have an extra on/off-switch - every socket, too! And the UK-sockets and plugs are monstrous chunks.

The reason is, that someone in the past obviously had a big panic about fire, as it seems. But this chunky low-tech is not necessary. Compae it with the German Schuko-system. This works fine, safe and reliable since decades - and is much unobtrusive.

As I'm working in the claim-division of an insurcance company, and I'm busy with fire damages every day, I can confirm, that, a correctly mounted, not cobbled or overloaded Schuko-system never ever cause a fire. Of course, several fires were caused by electricity, resp.electric/electronic devices - but never by correctly mounted and operating Schuko-plugs/sockets.


My wife loves Scotland that much, epspecially the landscape, that she would like to emigrate to there (just a weird idea, which never will become true). I've told her: "If we would do that, I will only do that, if we could take our house with us or can buy/build a house there with the same standard. I cannot bear the UK-housing technology."
The American neither, but this a different story.

I agree on that, the pins seem more solid, but the whole rest of the plug/socket always seem "cheap", and the connection not so good (i.e. the plug isn't fixed so solidly).
The CEE plug models like those found in most of EU countries (DE/BE/NL/FR/etc.) are much better. They have less of risk of falling off or have exposed contacts due to the border that the socket makes around the plug.

Our are slotted plug and the outlet. They are more prone to exposed prong when they get loose. Some outlet loose the springness that makes poor plug connectivity that I have it in one of the Guest room bathroom that needed attention

Yes, it is that car (which belongs also to a member of the K 70-Club). I thought, to find more pics on his homepage, So I didn't made pics of the doormats, he is offering (12 € each, I think, this is o.k.) but as I wrote, the site is broken.
The motifs are all taken from magazines, sales brochures and so on, all well-known photos. If the guy takes care about all the copyrights, is more than doubtful...
Anyways, I'm happy to have grabbed the last available K 70-doormat
and the copyright-problematic doesn't bother me at all.

@rjluna2: sorry, this time no pics for you. This would have been too much. I was so busy with checking the offers (not only K 70-stuff and plates for me, also stuff for friends and fellows), that there was no time left for taking photos. Although there were hundreds of motifs, interesting for many reasons for many people.
But the area is large. For strolling along all lanes and looking just shortly to the dealers, you need the whole day. If you are chatting with acquaintances, discussing prices too excessive or looking too intensively for tiny things, you will have problems to reach everything.
I was really tired at the end, exhausted, too - because I had to carry not only some plates and tiny stuff, as the badge for tonkatracker or a K 70-doorhandle, but a bumper and a complete K 70-door, too. Plus the way home, over 330 kilometers.
Anyways, it was a big fun again

I don't think, that in Beaulieu/UK this will cost the same money - 200 €, and that without any electric interior and without the orginal fixing parts. It was a Belgian dealer.
