"Orphan" TV programs - series where only a handful of episodes can be capped
Published 28/02/2019 @ 23:35:14, By Keats
Outside of IMCDb, I'm a television historian. As part of that, I've accumulated a large number of episodes of various TV series which will, in all likelihood, never be re-screened or released on DVD.

In some cases I have 1/3 to 1/2 of the series run, in other cases just a handful of episodes, and often only one.

As an example, I have about a dozen episodes of a mid-1960's Australian children's drama called "The Magic Boomerang" (ran for 45 episodes), half-a dozen of a 1970 police series called "The Link Men" (ran for 12 episodes)

I'm reluctant to start a new IMCDb entry for a series which has no real prospect of ever being completed - just wondering what the prevailing wisdom is on this?

Also - some episodes are time-coded; are caps from these considered a no-no?

Even if not completed, it can be interesting to have on the site if it has some vehicles worth listing (which can be the case with old Australian production, as I'm not sure that we have a lot of these)
About the time codes, you mean that there is the time hh:mm:ss as overlay in a corner of the picture? Not a big problem as long as the quality of the image still shows the vehicle correctly.
Maybe you can post one or two sample pictures?

If you post what you've got - even if only 50% or whatever of the episodes - it might encourage someone else who has other eps to come in and add more, so a complete record eventually emerges??

Here are a couple of examples:

It seems acceptable; at least for the cars with a role or those well visible

For my part, I find the photos pretty good, I’ve already seen less clear on the site.
Concerning the images and the time-coded, what I do is I take an angle where the time coded is outside the field of the car and then I do a trimming.

We usually prefer non-cropped images; I think it is better even if a time code appears
