Argentina has not paid the bill - so a 2015 Dodge Durango 5.7 is now mine

After 9 years with my RHD Vauxhall Vectra MkII I started to think about a new daily driver, as the now 12 year old car with 156.000 Brit.Miles on the clock starts getting more age and attrition problems.

Since a long time I thought about having a fat V8, but there were several disturbing details, as I'm picky and freaky about that:
fat engine, but no leather seats, no sunroof and no electronic junk. All this display-GPS-touchscreen-beeping-stuff makes me aggressive. I hate that.

When I visited my parents living nearby Hannover, my wife -she stayed at home- looked just for fun for the local offers - and saw a Dodge Durango with an incredible low mileage for a very good price - and with an unusual total basic interior.

She became very upset -me a bit, too-, because in the ad it was said, that the car is reserved for this price until Friday - but the shop was closed now.
She wrote to me "Look at the car! Try to reach somebody!", but I couldn't spot it.
I haven't noticed it before, although our doggie made twice a poo just 10 meters away.

Back home we wrote a mail to the dealer. He wrote back, that a lady wants to have the Durango in every case, that it's her dreamcar and so on, but she didn't come with the money.
So he was a bit pissed and said "If you come tomorrow, you can have it".

So yesterfay I worked just a few hours in the morning and drove again the 250 km to my parents village to check the car
- and I liked it a lot!
Mint condition very low mileage and and unbeatable price, so I bought it :sol:

It was used before as an advertisement car of a travel agency for North America travelling, so the low mileage.
As the previous owner put sticker foil on the car, the paint is as new.

And what's up with Argentina?

Chrysler has built 30 of these Durangos for the Argentinian border patrol - but Argentina didn't pay them.
So this dealer took these 30 Durangos en bloc and sold them in Europe.
My car, too. The previous owner bought a Dodge Ram now from him, so he took the car back for selling again.

It's an unique version, which was never officially available by Chrysler:
5.7 V8 fuel engine, but basic interior.
Cloth seats, no sunroof, no touchscreen-entertainment system and instead of a second back seat a flat luggage compartment with big boxes under the bottom.

So I'm very proud and happy now, that I could catch this once-in-a-lifetime-opportunity

photos may come later, the ad is still online, maybe for a few hours:

Nice! I guess you never know when the perfect car will pop up... Or indeed where it will come from.

We have to document these if they ever pop up in films. 30 seems ultra rare. Congrats on the car!

The more I look around for informations about this model, the more mysterious it becomes.

It's first registration was in Nov 2015, but when I check the test reports on YT and the Web, it seems to be a 2013 model (the chrome bezel between the taillight)

And it's optically a basic SXT V6 (chrome applications, front bumper, interior, CD-radio, wheels) - but with exceptions as the grille, the two exhausts and the back bumper. That stuff -and of course the engine  - is from the 5.7 R/T Hemi

It has no model badges at the back and front doors, a manual back door an it's, as I already mentioned, just a five-seater.

In one week it will be ready - I cant wait for it

Who will be the lucky recipient of the Vectra?

I hope you :bogoss:
You will get an IMCDb-ists special price :clindoeil:

Well, this is a problem to be solved.

Of course I know since the first minute, that the Vectra is not saleable again as a RHD-car (and used larger Opel were never valuable), but I don't want to scrap it, as it's still running fine and has a trailer coupling for 1,6 tons (and two weeks ago I've paid a lot for repairing the A/C).
Otherwise it's already a bit shabby, especially inside, as we use it as doggie-transporter. And 156.000 Brit.miles (250.000 km) is not a really low mileage.

Anyways, I will try it - my first sentence is not a joke, if someone here is interested, it would be great.
For UK-IMCDb-ists: the previous Scottish plates, the left traffic headlights and the Vauxhall instruction manual would be included.

To keep it as spare car for doggie transport and other dirty usage would be too expensive due the insurance costs. My wife and me don't have an old contract with a low percentage left over (in Germany the insurance gets cheaper with every year without an accident).

Last monday evening I could pick the Durango up - and I'm absolutely happy.
Although it's something completely different, I had the same feeling, when I entered it the first time, as in my K 70 (and a bit in the Omega, but not in the Vectra):
Yeah. Fits. Mine. It's my car."

But one annoyance has to be fixed: it has the US curbing, Vmax 177 km/h - that's unbearable
According Wiki it's 210 km/h, in the German papers it's even remarked 230 km/h.

There is a KRAFTWERK https://www.kraftwerk.cc/de/startseite which is able to help
