I have noticed on most other platforms that you are able to click links to other people's profile, but not here for some reason. Is it possible to make a shortcut to other users profiles without forcing a link to IMCDb?

Do you mean tag users in posts?
If the purpose is just making a link to the user profile, it has a limited use. That's not a function that would be so much used.
If the purpose is tagging the user so they get notified, that's on my to do list.
