It's a testimony to Ford's popularity

Chevy though is always the best choice for an American car though.

I speak from personal experience, that Ford > Dodge > Chevy. I've had cars from each. Only one Chevy though, a 2004 Venture LS Ext. V6 4-speed, leased. It was horrid. Too small inside (this was supposedly because it was based on a European Opel Sintra), it handled and felt worse then a Freightliner FLD and it was made purely from plastic.
The Ford's I have had in my life-time are a 1999 F-150 and another 1995/1994 F-150. Both hit 200,000 miles, with no problems. The 1994 is gone, but I still drive the 1999 (XLT, five speed manual, 4.6L Triton V8, SuperCab 4x4), which is turning over at slightly over 203,700 miles. Reliable, durable, good looking, well equipped, excellent engine sound. Clutch is going though, but its the original clutch. Nothing on it has been replaced other then a battery, brake pads, etc.
I used to lease minivans, until present. Went through three Dodge Caravan's. 1995, 1998 SE and 2001 SE. All were reliable, fuel efficient, reasonably comfortable and caused us no pain or extra money.
The Chevy only lasted two months before the problems started. Although, due to Chevrolet's popularity, ours was probably just a lemon. Or, the Venture (based on the ancient U-Body with that old 3.4L V6) was just crap.

Those early generation 4.6 Triton V8’s are snails aren’t they. I remember back in 1997 when I bought my first Expedition (a 1997 model, Eddie Bauer) I Test drove the one with the 4.6 and good God!, that thing was sloooooooooooooooooooooooow. I ended up getting a different one that had the 5.4 engine (not much of an improvement ) It was still kind of slow. Sounded at lot better than the 4.6 engine, however I always thought the 4.6 revved a little higher than the 5.4. But I agree both Triton engines have an brutish monstrous sound (Pretty good to be stock) I love that sound myself.
I just realized "Triton" is one of the moons of "Neptune" (Weird (!) ) Maybe that’s why I like the Expedition so much, because of the Triton engine! (Just joking)

That's funny, I did not notice it (though that I knew that)

>> Meat loaf: We have a 1999 F150 with the 4.6 Triton with 102k miles, 2wd Automatic. It is reliable but hasn't been in good care. It may become my car in the future.
>> Neptune: Triton is one of Neptune's moons? What a coinsidence!

Very nice. i have a VERY nice 1994 Ford F-150 that my dad first bought in 2001. It is an XLT in extremely nice condition (both from the outside and inside). Seeing as how he rarely uses it as he is assigned a 2001 Ford F-250 at his job, I ended up with it. The transmission is really bad and will need replacing, but besides that, it has stood the test of time really well. Other improvements I have in store will be replacing the factory stock casette player with a CD player, or something newer (but not too flashy so it won't look too out of place ), some new tires, and maybe down the road, a re-painting.

Our F150 isn't bad. I don't like it a lot, but I would not mind owning it if I needed it. It is a good truck though.

Ford’s Triton engine family (both the 4.6 and 5.4) were listed in the Worlds Top 10 Best engines.
Oh and here is umm err "Neptune’s" "Triton"

Doesn’t look like an V8 engine, but hey! At least it has the same name...

Don’t know, might not survive the trip there. We have all seen how those space movies turn out...

Or maybe this might be better suited to deal with our space neighbors:

Tango & Cash (1989). It's on the site already. I remembered because I caught the movie yesterday on the Showtime channel.

My Expedition could smoke that Chevy off-road (just joking)
It could out accelerate it though
