Since when is this news? We've known that 2011 or 2012 would be the last year for the Panther platform for quite a while.

It is sad indeed, but the new "Taurus" (which isn't at all a Taurus in the classic sense anymore) is so big on both the outside, inside, and trunk now it makes a perfect replacment for the Crown Victoria, in the civilian marklet at least. Maybe the police won't like it since it is V6 and front wheel drive but I wouldn't worry for them as they still have decent offerings from Chevrolet and Dodge considering how much better the current Impala and Charger are for police use than the Intrepid and Lumina they were offering only a few years ago.
