Channellocks or even better; a pipe wrench. I think that channellocks just tend to skid over the surface. I would recommend that you use a heat gun too.
Remember to smere a thin oilfilm over the O-ring on the new oil filter, they tend to get stuck like that if you don't. Also the oil filter should only be tighten with bare hands not with any tools or else it will sit to tight!
