Wagon listings

Some wagon models are listed as "Estate Wagon", which is incorrect (specifically for the pre-1991 Chevrolet Caprice). I don't know who listed them as that, but it is clearly redundant since "Estate" is the name given to only wagons. The only car that should be listed that way is the Buick Estate Wagons of the 1980s. This means that Pontiac Safari Wagons should also simply be "Pontiac Safari" with no "wagon". Same goes for Ford Country Squire and Mercury Colony Park.
Bottom line, drop "wagon" from all...
- Chevrolet Caprice Estate (pre-1991)
- Pontiac Safari (all models including Bonneville, 6000, Lemans, etc...)
- Ford Country Squire
- Mercury Colony Park
If I find anymore I'll point them out.
Also let me take this opprotunity to point out that this kind of thing would be a lot easier for me and other admins (specifically antp, since I'm guessing he's the one who will end up fixing this as he usually does) if I were a "half" admin. Just something to consider seeing as I have ample time and many admins do not.

There is no "half admin". What I should add to the site is ability for members to rename vehicles in a kind of temporary list: changes would have to be validated by admins before really applied. It would be faster for admins (just click yes or no, or possibly modify what was entered)
But that would be for... later, when I have time to add that.
About the wagons, a problem with US cars is if we include or not the "wagon" name in the model name. For European cars we do it, but for US cars it depends.
For example the Taurus has it just as extra info.
Also the problem of the trim level combined with that.
If we put the "wagon" in model name, the trim level goes after it, and it causes problem with the Caprice from what I got ("chevrolet caprice estate classic")
A problem of the site is consistency of information. For that I should store vehicle info differently. I did not do the original database design, and I should really redesign it some day (especially for all what is around trim level and body makers)

There is no "half admin".
I'm sure you have mentioned this before The two "halves" being that you can either change info/listings or submit pictures automatically to the site, (or both, in some cases)

For cars like Taurus it makes sense to add "wagon" becuase there is no model name that indicates the car IS a wagon, such "Estate" or "Safari" or "Country Squire". Since these cars I listed do have such names it doesn't make sense to add the wagon becuase the model name (e.g. Estate) indicates it is a wagon.

What I don't really understand is the purpose of "extra info" in listings. Why can't all the information simply be listed together in one piece? It makes it easier and solves the problem we have here with the wagons.

I probably just said that I should add that
And on igcd non-admins can submit pictures to be validated (another thing that I should add)

It was done to have cars sorted by year instead of trim/version but after all it was probably not a so good idea (especially since later I added an option to sort by year...)
Anyway this will change when I will redesign the database.
