Thanks
Mister Linsky

Thanks for the offer. This one from The Stranger(1946) is not from New York City, but it does take place in Connecticut, and has been nagging at me for quite a while.

I keep leaning towards an old ACF Brill, but I'd rather be absolutley certain of what it is.

Ddey,

I would certainly like to get a closer and clearer picture but
off the top of my head I would lean toward a Fitzjohn.

Fitzjohn was a lower grade manufacturer mostly for Canadian
consumption but did have a U.S. presence through the forties
and fifties.

Unfortunately, and as with other 'mediocre' makers in the
medium range, GM wiped them out and Fitzjohn's run ended in
1960.

See a reasonable facsimile below.

Thanks, but I tried to enroll and got this message;

This e-mail address is already assigned to another account.

How do I get around this?

Thanks,

Mister Linsky
chicomarx,

I've tried to post directly but it won't accept my log-in - as long as we're at it; how can I place my Avatar?

The bus in the 'Cameraman' is not a Yellow Coach and was never 'Fifth Avenue'

In fact, the scene is very much 'backlot' Hollywood Studio with the incorrect
street signs and the #2 Fifth Avenue destination sign being a 'print shop
job' over the original cabinet.

Los Angeles Motor Coach ran some DD's at the time and this bus may have been
rented from them.

I'll dig a little on the chassis which could be any number of makes except
Fageol or Yellow.

Much appreciated! It's better if you post this info directly on its page on the main site, because it will get buried in the forum.

Mister Linsky
Please be advised that the bus you have listed in
'The Dark Corner'as being a Twin Coach Model 40 is
actually a 1933 Mack Model 'CL'

The bus, which is the real thing, carries fleet number A220
and was operating for the Avenue B and East Broadway Transit
Company and was usually seen on one of the company's two
downtown Manhattan routes (M8 or M9).

I have attached a better resolution photo for your edification.
