to continue on the tickets : there was a place i used to work about 10 years ago and the only way to reach it ( for me ) was by the service lane of the highway ( i could used another road but it would have been an useless detour ) which was always jammed. Some people were driving on the roadside to pass everybody, or cutting people to gain access to the roadside and the new arrivants were often welcomed by a white Crown Vic with flashing lights...

( I went on this roadside only twice , with my Tempo once to check an exhaust clip or something like this and once after being rear-ended by a F-350, still wondering how i got so little damage , it was a low speed impact and the truck had fixations for a snow plow which touched the bumper. when i drove off after i still was mad and nearly floored it on the roadside, there was a police car so i merged in the correct lane. maybe he saw me and the F-350 so i got lucky to be ticket-free... )
