As I said, I'm pretty sure it was a French series, rather light-hearted although the main character was always involved in solving crimes. Besides, I don't think the car was a Silver Cloud as I'm convinced it had double headlights although my memory might deceive me. Still, I'm certain it wasn't filmed in the States.
