God I can't stand rental car companies. My Passat is in rehab and I am currently renting a car for most of this week. Ordered an "Intermediate" at a popular rental company (hint: they picked me up), which should be a car the size of a Honda Civic. Was offered two choices a Nissan Note (which would be a downgrade, no thanks!) or a Kia Soul, which according to rental car company land is a "Standard" size (Standards are typically the size of a Toyota Camry). I took the Soul (more like Soul-less). What an uncomfortable, under-powered, ugly shitbox.
2015 Hyundai Accent...I rented it for a week about a year 1/2 ago while my Accord was out of service (distributor started leaking oil internally).
Didn't like the Accent one bit. Shifted awkwardly, especially between 30 and 40mph (would rev up considerably for a while before finally getting into next gear, albeit very late) and I just didn't like being seen in it. Made me miss my 1984 Honda Accord the whole time, I couldn't wait to get it back on the road and ditch the Accent. Sorry Hyundai...
Also rented a 2012 Ford Edge for a trip out to Goldstone Deep Space Communications Complex out in the Mojave. It was decent.
