Feature found / brought to light by somebodyjustlikeme about 2 weeks ago , the canadian Carfax's mobile app can check plates of some provinces . You do have to register to use it . Not sure if it works on laptop / PC but seems it does not on mine . Here's the list of what can be checked or not :
what works : Nova Scotia ( NS ) , New Brunswick ( NB ) , Newfoundland / Labrador ( NL ) , Prince Edward Island ( PE ) , Ontario ( ON ) , Saskatchewan ( SK ) , British Columbia ( BC ) , Northwest Territories ( NT )
what does not : Québec ( QC ) , Manitoba ( MB ) , Alberta ( AB ) , Yukon ( YT ) , Nunavut ( NU )
of course , won't work if plate is fake...
side note : my NT's first try was a police car that gave no results but 2nd plate came back as a 2018 F-150 , so maybe police cars can't be checked , at least for this territory
