At least in Europe, VW AG (so Škoda, Seat, Audi... as well) VINs use digits 7-8 or 7-9 to show the modell code.
As you can see in my VIN above: 7-8: AU.

I think we list many modells with a wrong or not specific code...

And since we even use different codes for different engines in the same Honda modell, we have to be as precise with the VAG cars.
