I noticed too there was some confusion indeed. I personally agree with italian wikipedia MKs, and that's the way in which they're usually identified, so:
1978-1989 Mk1
1990-1999 Mk2
2000-2005 Mk3
2006-2014 Mk4
2015-present Mk5
