As for the diesel XV, I don't think the VIN necessarily reflects the actual chassis code, as my personal 2017 Crosstrek's VIN contains GPA, while its build plate states GP7 as the chassis code.
Update: I just ran a VIN for a UK spec XV 2.0D, and the body model does in fact come back as GPD. I compared it with the body model of my own U.S. spec Crosstrek from its VIN to confirm.
