Subject: Chase videos I made

I'd like to share a few videos I made. Footage captured from the game Carmageddon 2 and mixed with music (no sound effects). These two are the ones I like the most. I was influenced by a lot of car chase movies. If you click "Browse" under the thumbnails to the right, you can see all of my videos.

Great! that reminds that Carmageddon 2 is one of the best for car physics
I really should try these realistic-looking cars rather than the default ones or the other non-realistic ones that I added.

Thanks. Someone just released a Citroen DS. I'm sure you'd have some fun with that and the Ford Tempo add-on.

The only realistic car that I had some time ago when I found few new ones on internet was the Rover SD1; it was great to drive.

Moi ce que je préfère, c'est la musique sur la deuxième vidéo. Smoke on the water/Deep Purple: Un MYTHE!

The best to play the game is Windows 98 and a 3dfx-based video card. I hope that you will be able to make it run a newer PC  I personally could not make it run fine under XP. I kept my old Celeron 366 MHz mostly for that

Oooooh, "Intel 366 MHz Celeron" That’s like vintage... :bave:

That reminds me I still have a old Compaq Presario 256 Machine that ran Windows 3.1, in the attic. It’s a big as a welding machine and just as heavy. It hasn’t run in years.

Actually, the Citroen handles "realistically" or so the creator says. It's so front heavy and spins out really easily. I'm not liking it too much.

As for XP, I'm running it using the Glide Wrapper. It really improves the graphics over the game's graphics engine. The picture above was taken at 640 X 480. I forgot to change it back after making the videos. With the glide wrapper, the game can be played at high res:

This topic might help. Check out the rest of the forums for stuff.

When I tested that glide wrapper few years ago it did not work very well, I should maybe try again :figti:
Right now that URL does not seem to work for me

This work?

It seems to work very well! In 1280x960 with the glide wrapper on my 19" monitor that looks better than the 640x480 with the real 3dfx2 card on the 17" monitor of the other PC

I suppose that this is the same "Qwerty86" as you? I did not know that you made cars (or forgot it...)
http://www.3dactionplanet.com/carmageddon/cars2_Qwerty86_page1.shtml
I removed all default cars except:
- red eagle, as it was the default one. Is there a way to set another car as the default one?
- police car, as it is used in a mission. Can it be replaced?
- dump truck, for the same reason
I suppose that all others could be removed/replaced?

Where can in find the Citroën DS?

Hey, a Ford Fairmont.

Yep, that would be me. I made a few cars for that game. I also made a few cars for Midtown Madness. That's pretty much my claim to fame. Citroen can be found here:

To set the default cars, you just use a program called "Carstockalypse" and move whatever car you want to the top of the list to replace the Eagle. Carstockalypse will also open up (or "unpack") the game's files to allow editing.

For the Bruise Brothers level, you just open up your races.txt file (in your "data" folder) and scroll down to the level entry. You'll see an entry that says "Number of explicit opponents" and a bunch of 51s. The 51 corresponds to the opponent number in the opponent.txt file. Replace the numbers with whatever you want and you'll have whatever car you want in the level. They don't all have to be the same number either as long as the number of cars/opponents matches the initial number. Same thing for the dump truck.
