Subject: Poll: Upmarket SUVs

All right, now I'm going to have to cover SUVs. First I'll cover the more upmarket ones, where I come from these seem to be the most popular, so which of these would you choose, if you ABSOLUTELY HAD to have one of these. Say, you were stuck in the middle of a desert and these 10 SUVs were lined up in front of you and no other form of transport was available, which would you pick? I know have left out the Volkswagen Toureg (which is basically a Cayenne with a VW badge), the Mercedes-Benz GL (it hasn't been around very long anyway), the Lexus RX and the Audi Q7 (I added these at first but I decided I'd rather include the Range Rover Sport and the Mercedes G-Class) and BMW X3 (because no one in the right mind would drive one, they aren't much cheaper than the X5 and they are absolutely shit offroad).

Remember these are all meant to be the latest versions of each model.

I went for the Merc G-Class because it's a proper, tough 4x4 not some crossover like the X5 and the ML and it's pretty rare (at least in England), at first I was going to go for the Range Rover (not the Sport, I hate them) but then I realised I am absolutely sick of seeing them around and they are too flashy anyway.

Ummm, I was actually joking about making a poll on SUVs, I did not think you would actually do that... :ohwell:
30/07/2007 @ 02:02:02: G-MANN: Poll: Upmarket SUVs
Well, I've done it now!
30/07/2007 @ 02:16:05: MBSL65fan: Poll: Upmarket SUVs
Did you get this idea to make more poles from me, since I made a pole for exotic cars?
30/07/2007 @ 02:22:14: Neptune: Poll: Upmarket SUVs
Well, I've done it now!

Not to be picky or anything, but the Ford Expedition Limited would be listed under the upscale class as well. The Lincoln Navigator no longer sports more luxury features than it mechanical sibling. Its ride quality hangs with and even surpasses some of it’s competitors like GMC, Cadillac, Jeep, Mercedes, and BMW. Thanks to a Fully Independent Suspension setup that uses a computer controlled electromechanical adjustment system.
30/07/2007 @ 02:26:48: G-MANN: Poll: Upmarket SUVs
But the Navigator is based on the Expedition and it's a Lincoln which is Ford's luxury brand in America, so isn't the Navigator generally the more luxurious version of the Expedition? Bottom line, which one costs more?
30/07/2007 @ 02:27:19: MBSL65fan: Poll: Upmarket SUVs
Hmm, This one's gonna take time...
30/07/2007 @ 02:28:37: G-MANN: Poll: Upmarket SUVs
Well I'm afraid I'm not including the Expedition (there's only so many option fields available and I had to leave out other SUVs), so you'll have to choose out of the 10 vehicles I've listed. Sorry.
30/07/2007 @ 02:43:27: Neptune: Poll: Upmarket SUVs
The Expedition will top out at around $58,000, give or take a grand.

The Navigator will reach $62,000 but at that point some Luxury options are not available because of Package bundles (example: Lincoln does not offer V.A. DVD Navigation System with the Audiophile Sound System.)

The Expedition offers all options together or as a stand alone package. So while the Navigator costs more, the Expedition still offers more Luxury goodies to play with.

You are basically buying the name when you purchase a Lincoln.

Okay now I have decided Range Rover, with the Supercharged Jaguar V8, but I may change my mind.
30/07/2007 @ 02:47:22: G-MANN: Poll: Upmarket SUVs
I see. That's kind of stange, really. But what are you going to vote for, Neptune?
30/07/2007 @ 02:55:45: Neptune: Poll: Upmarket SUVs
Well, if I were stuck in a desert (as you say) and these were my only choices and I couldn’t have my Expedition Limited. I would go for the Volvo XC90.
30/07/2007 @ 03:46:15: qwerty_86: Poll: Upmarket SUVs
What? No Jeep?
30/07/2007 @ 03:48:46: G-MANN: Poll: Upmarket SUVs
Sorry, but I couldn't fit everthing in, you'll have to choose from what's there.
17/12/2007 @ 00:43:19: Buc84: Poll: Upmarket SUVs
Due to scenario,(Stuck in the Desert)I picked the G-Wagen due to it being based off German Army vehicle. If "Defender"(?)Land Rover(The one the Royal Army uses??)or the H-1(Dressed up US Army HMMMV)were listed,it would be a real shoot-out?
17/12/2007 @ 08:20:52: bravada: Poll: Upmarket SUVs
First of all, this is not a vehicle registration office, we can safely call Range Rovers by their name.

Secondly, SUVs should perish and burn in hall - they killed the big sedans and coupes! If I had to vote for an off-roader or 4x4 though, I think I'd go for a RR Sport (NOT a Land Rover Ranger Rover Ford's Premier Automotive Group Insert Bureaucratic Preamble Here Sport)
17/12/2007 @ 14:35:41: walter.: Poll: Upmarket SUVs
Absolutely the Audi Q7, but I like also the Range Rover Sport
17/12/2007 @ 14:49:19: CrazyCars: Poll: Upmarket SUVs
I'd take the ML-class if i was after something luxurious but the Range Rover if i needed to get out of a desert
17/12/2007 @ 15:06:21: 58_Roadmaster: Poll: Upmarket SUVs
I don't understand all the differences between the 2 Range Rovers, I opted away from the Sport model for some reason. Buick Enclave???
