How did you discover IMCDB.org? Were you looking for a site with movie cars, were you browsing or what? My story is that I was looking for results of this red 500SEL in Beethoven's 2nd:

http://imcdb.org/vehicle_29105-Mercedes-Benz-500-SEL-W140-1992.html

I saw this movie when I was young and that was the first Mercedes I knew of. Probably my dream car when I was a young child too. When I joined the database I made my first comment on the car, but don't forget my comments are gone now.

And for antp, how did you find IMCDB?

Some friends showed it to me. Thought it was an awesome site.

What's funny is that I also discovered it, as the site was not originally created by me
It was here: http://forum.hardware.fr/forum2.php?config=hfr.inc&cat=13&subcat=424&post=29250&page=- 2&p=1&sondage=0&owntopic=1&trash=0&trash_post=0&print=0&numreponse=0"e_only=- 0&new=0&nojs=0#t2802867
On the page 2 of the topic made on hardware.fr forum by the original creator of IMCDB. Before that the site went really "international", most was done from that topic, so with mostly French members.
(and one page 3 the first discussion about "including or not the background cars :kiki: )

I stumbled upon IMCDb by reading the Wikipedia article on IMDb: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imdb which recommended "See also Internet Movie Cars Database" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Movie_Cars_Database

Interesting to see that this site was chosen as a Yahoo pick of the day...

A nice article, by the way

I found the site by accident while searching the internet for information about a car I saw in a movie.

Back in March 2006, after watching Uncle Buck again one night, I looked at the IMDB message board for the film to try and find out what Uncle Buck's legendary car was. Someone (I later found it was modell) mentioned it was listed on IMCDB ("great site btw" they said), so I came here and was instantly hooked.

I was looking for some of the cars from "Gone in 60 Seconds" (1974) and I stumbled onto the site. I just looked around for a while but decided to sign up to give it a try, mostly because I noticed that the Crown Victoria page was all messed up, as far as years went. Another motivation was the fact that another certain member who is not on the forums was posting (and still does occasionally) misleading or otherwise incorrect information. As far as things go now, I'm hooked. I love the trivial aspect of the site, and for the most part I like all of the other members on here.

I wish I can speak French but thanks. I was just curious since you are the biggest user of the site. And if anyone knows about that Mercedes and where it is let me know.

I don't remember how I found IMCDb. I visited this site every now and then and finally decided to join (that was sometime in March/April 2006).

And that was what lead me here. I googled in 500SEL in Beethoven's 2nd and then I found. IMCDB. I looked at it and liked it, then i made an account. After a while I signed up for the forum and enjoyed it more. But after I found IMCDB I did not go back to the other results.

I remember pretty well, that I read something about the site in Trivia page by some movie on IMDB - after I saw there the IMCDB name for about third time I visited the page and stayed

I found the site literally by accident, I had intended to go the IMDb site, but I made a typo an entered "imdcb" at which point the search engine I was using redirected me to "imcdb", as that’s what it thought I meant. After that I bookmarked the site, visited it off and on for about the next three months, until I came across a Chevy Suburban that was then listed as a Tahoe. I made an account to post the correct model of the vehicle. After that I became more active on the site, and began to contribute a few movies. :ddr555:

Sometimes if you try to google a specific car that appears in a film, eg. try typing "Goodfellas Cadillac", IMCDB pages appear in the search results.

Since I added vehicle names & movie title in the page titles few months ago, the site is much better referenced in Google  (previously title was only "vehicles of a movie" or "vehicle details")

Those are the only closest results I can find to that Mercedes 500SEL I've been looking for.

Two years ago, almost to the day, I was searching the internet (by the means of a well known search-engine) fo a list of Land-Rovers used in film. I first saw such a list in the early to mid 1990s when internet pages where usually typewriter font on grey background and internet search-engines counted some ten-thousand pages (on all subjects, not one!). When I tried to find this list again I stumbled upon IMCDb.

Very soon I discovered some misclassified Land-Rover ... and that got me started.
07/09/2007 @ 21:37:52: antp: How did you find IMCDB?
I remember that Land-Rovers were indeed completely quite wrongly listed before you arrive, as nobody knew how to identify them, nor how to list these chassis/series models
