Out of these cars, which would you choose as your next car? My family is going to lease another car in one or two months and we still haven't decided. Saturn Outlook, Honda Odyssey, Dodge Durango or Honda Pilot? We know our requirements, and we have narrowed it down to those four.

'07 Saturn Outlook AWD
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o129/Explorer4x4/Explorers/2008SaturnOutlookXRfront.jpg
Pros: Decent gas mileage (for its size), six cylinder engine is standard, more powerful then the Durango, Pilot and Odyssey, cheapest base model of the lot, its American. Cons; not the best looking, its a GM product.

'07 Dodge Durango
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o129/Explorer4x4/Explorers/2007DodgeDurango.jpg
Pros: American. Cons: poor reviews, horrible fuel efficiency, odd looks, eight passenger seating costs extra.

'07 Honda Odyssey
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o129/Explorer4x4/Explorers/2007HondaOdysseyEX.jpg
Pros: Good fuel efficiency, good reviews, looks pretty good. Cons: Asian, Honda, tiny little fold-out seat in the second row, no AWD/4WD.

'07 Honda Pilot
http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o129/Explorer4x4/Explorers/2007HondaPilotEX.jpg
Pros: Good fuel efficiency (same engine as Odyssey), looks better then Durango, AWD. Not that much interior space, its a Honda and its Asian.

I voted for the Odyssey unless you really need AWD. Based just on looks I'd go for the Saturn.

Buy the one that isn't an SUV.

I buy vehicles based on my needs. I would advise the same for you. I agree with ahight, if you don’t go Off-Road or Tow/Haul anything, go for the Honda Odyssey. If you do go Off-Road or you do a lot of Towing/Hauling, then go for the Dodge Durango. The other vehicles you listed are nice, but I would narrow your search to just the Durango or Odyssey based on your needs in a vehicle. (I didn’t vote for any vehicle as the ultimate choice is up to you)

But if he really did need an offroader why would he even be considering the Honda Odyssey?

Maybe because of seating capacity.

Don't go for a Durango. Dodges aren't as good off-road as they may be hyped up to be. Every experience I've had with a Dodge truck has been negative, so I wouldn't advise you to go that way.

No, I do not plan to off-road. The only one of the four thats and SUV is the Durango, but even it has a six cylinder engine and is based on the Durango compact truck. The Pilot is a Odyssey-based crossover. Same thing, same engine, but with more ground clearance. The Outlook is not an SUV, it is a full-size crossover utility.

My family has gotten minivans since 1995, and we have always lived in an urban area. But we are moving. I won't say where, but its up around the Yukon territories in Canada. We will probably need all wheel drive, decent power and ground clearance. We don't tow or off-road, so we don't want an SUV like Suburban. We've always gotten what we need and nothing more, and this time, we might need AWD and ground clearance.

Although I voted Saturn, I think you should get the Pilot. Right now is the bsst time to buy a 2007.

Frankly the Dodge would not be my first choice either, but seeing as how he listed it, it is the only vehicle in the listing that can perform heavy-duty towing and while it isn’t the best off-road, it is better than the vehicles in this group. :ddr555:

I will, Probably one to two months and we will get one. Most likely choice is the Saturn Outlook. Due to it being the cheapest, most fuel efficient and being American. As well as having better ground clearance then the Odyssey.

We are renting cars until we can get the Outlook or whatever it will be. Right now we've got a '07 Chevy Cobalt LS as the rental car of the week.

Then for crying out loud, DON'T GET AN SUV! A crossover is still an SUV, so that doesn't make it OK. Personally I wouldn't have any of these cars, but the Saturn is the ugliest. There must be other cars you could choose.

Yeah, there is actually. Chevy Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon, Yukon XL, Excursion, Suburban, etc.

Crossover's are not SUV's, and just so you know, the Saturn gets better miles per gallon then the Odyssey minivan. At the same time, its more powerful.

But since you won't be going off-road or doing any towing it would not be right to buy any of the cars you've just listed.

A crossover is an SUV, it's just an smaller SUV that's based on a car platform rather than a truck platform, they were built so people could have SUVs that were more "car-like". If they wanted that they should have just bought normal cars. A crossover SUV is for someone who wants to drive something that looks like an offroader, but will never actually go offroad.

You should have put a "none of the above" category. That would have my vote.

Well, we are thinking the Outlook is going to be our next car.

We'll get it about a month after we move to Alaska. I will still be driving my lovely 1989 Tempo AWD Sedan.
