Yesterday, on the way with my K 70 to a regional NSU meeting I spotted in our next village a 1958 Mercedes 300 SL Roadster, parked in front of a pizzeria.
It was not their pizza-taxi, because this pizza shop has no delivery service.

Oh yes, I never mentioned this at all - during our vacation in Sweden I spotted a genuine Golf III Harlekin, USDM and all!

Mid-August I was in New York for a week, not many unusual vehicles spotted there.
Trucks seem enormous of course for me, as Euopean
Especially this kind of trucks with engine in front of the cab in city streets:
(compared to the usual cabover trucks in EU)
I didn't know that the NYPD were still getting smart fortwo, here a relatively recent model:
And a matching trailer
Is the driver door reinforced to be bullet proof? Other police cars seemed to have that additional layer on the front doors.
BTTF replica in the Hard Rock café:
A bunch of Citroën Type HY around the Rockfeller Center:
It felt like a fake EU location from a movie set

Many of that Type H vans were imported for "Food Truck" business purpose, still very nice to see them around.

I wonder if they still run as vehicles, or are used like trailers, put there with the help of another vehicle.

One of the FB car show groups that I am in shared this pic from a car show in the US. What is it?
13/09/2024 @ 22:16:34: atom: interesting/funny/special cars sightings
Goliath Tiger Sport Coupé
13/09/2024 @ 22:23:06: night cub: interesting/funny/special cars sightings
No wonder why I had zero idea. Still don't know what that is, but at least now I can look it up!
14/09/2024 @ 02:32:51: night cub: interesting/funny/special cars sightings
So I looked it up in the Standard Catalogue of Imported Cars, and it was listed as an official import from 1958-1960, at an initial price point of $2835. They listed that 2267 Goliaths of all types were sold in 1958, and 3478 in 1959. They didn't list 1960 sales. They did note that 1961 was the name change to Hansa, but the Tiger was not on the model list of available models that year, and that was the final year in the US market for the company.

( but got a
Firebird one.. )

I don't remember where something similar was posted, a Volga on a t-shirt, standing as a US car.
In New York I thought something was off with the taxi on this magnet, and indeed: I'm not sure that the Volga was used as NY Taxi officially
(I should have bought that magnet just for fun...)
29/09/2024 @ 20:21:46: Gamer: interesting/funny/special cars sightings
Yes, that was me with the Volga shirt and Los Angeles.
The Volga's beside the point - isn't that the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge or something? It's definitely no suspension bridge in New York, though it may be one in New Jersey.
30/09/2024 @ 07:20:38: antp: interesting/funny/special cars sightings
Indeed, that does not look like one of NY's bridges
I really should have bought that magnet
30/09/2024 @ 08:12:09: Baube: interesting/funny/special cars sightings
looks like
this one . New York NFL teams are playing their home games in New Jersey stadium , i guess NYC took the liberty of taking their bridge as well..
as for the Volga.. i bet there is more Crown Vic taxis in Moscow than there is Volga taxis in New York..
