Originally may cars do not have anything to protect the "ground", so you are forced to add some (those added in my car are the same color as the original ground carpet, but for my father it is more difficult to find: his 106 Rallye's original floor is red, as well as the seatbelts  )

There is something that is worse than floor mats and air freshners: Bumper stickers and that christian fish, it creeps inside me when I see them, BRRRRR.

I hate stickers too, actually i hate anything to be on a car that it's useless to have inside or outisde.

The air freshener looks nice and makes the car smell really good (but you have to get the right scent, some of them are kinda yucky). I don't like steering wheel covers on some cars, just ones that have a not-so-nice steering wheel. My Dodge has a leather-wrapped steering wheel, which makes a cover not really necessary. But some cars have really nasty plastic steering wheels and covers are nice to have. Floor mats are extremely helpful from keeping dirt and water off the carpet in the winter and springtime. So no, they are not "useless" they all serve a very important purpose.

Air freshners don't look good in any way, it's one of the most tasteless things and ugly thereof that you can add to the interior of a car, nothing should hang out the rear view mirror (let alone dice) nor put on the air conditioning intakes, the steering wheel can be as ugly as it wants because wheel covers are simply awful, and as for the floor mats i guess you mean the typicals every car comes with, because if you mean the ones that i've seen already on some american cars which are just like the carpets people have at home then let's not talk about it...

The car looks nice, I'd agree some alloy rims would improve it quite a bit (not chrome). Otherwise I wouldn't spend too much money on it, just repair the minor damages, since you'll probably want something different in a few years... given your age.

Yes, save up and buy a convertible :sol: Would be perfect since you live in Cali.

I don't like steering-wheel-covers on my cars, but I love it, when a previous owner had some (so the pure 70ies-style, made from Skai-plastic and bended around the steering-wheel), because the 70ies-steering-wheels from harder plastic are often scratched, mainly from wedding-rings. It's ugly to touch them in this rough condition. But in nice condition, I like them more than the newer, smoother, covered with this foam-plastic-stuff.

@Max: if you just clean your car sometimes, you don't need floor-mats. They are even worse in the wintertime and when it's wet outside, because it's wet underneath them. This causes mould easier than the wet original floor, which can dry better without mats on it.

I had cars, which had three or four floor-mats on the original ground. How stupid...

Yes, when I got a rotten K 70 for wrecking, I had a ritual: the first thing, I've done, was to take the garbage-bin and to pick out all these unoriginal "extras" like floor mats, air-fresheners, seat-covers, rubber-covers on door-edges etc. After that ritual the car was in the correct condition to get wrecked by me.

Floor mats and air fresheners  . I have good floor mats and I do use an air freshener for my car because it used to be a smoker car back in the day. Now it smells great. It really works if you get the good ones. A steering wheel cover is not needed either.

Perhaps you can pimp up the interior in the way, a girl in my neighbourhood has done. Her junky old Ford Fiesta has the dashboard and the door-panels covered with fluffy, pink plush.

I have no idea, was the intention of the owners was, but there is a 1st gen. Mazda MX 5 (Miata in the USA) in my village, which hardtop the owner has painted with the USA-flag. And it has seat-covers (annother disgusting extra) with tiger-heads on.

Not only for stains, but it is also for wear and tear

Thank you! At least someone here has some sense.

Hey!

No, for my car (not that I have one  ), it will not be pimped :vomit: on pimped cars  . My car will be cool, as it will be a cool car. The only "pimping" may be some nice wheels (not big, just nice, and maybe repaint (if it needs it.)

Because my first car (I hope) will be a Mini (original style)
