Hi friends. I try to help with our brands id. I begin from some rules, wich help to identify cars without commentin' for every one photo. If that's not enough, tell me, i'll write more detales.
So, VAZ. Volga Auto Plant in Togliatti city in Samara state. There are lines:
1. Zhiguli
2. Sputnik
3. Samara
4. Niva
5. Oka
6. Kalina
1, 2, 4, 6 lines are goin' onto export under one name Lada. Niva is Niva everywhere.
Zhiguli had marks chronically:
2101 - adapted RWD sedan Fiat 124 (1200csm) -since '70-th.
2102 - vagon vary, 1200.
21011 - restyled '01-st (1300), 21013 had 1200.

2106 - restyled next, 1600. And some modifications had engines 1300 (21063) and 1500 (21061 - i have two them).
2105 - restyled next, 1500 and some modifications with only different litrage.

Sputnic line permanently was renamed into Samara.
Samara

And now is producin' cars under direct brand Lada.
2110 - sedan, 1500. Export name is Lada 110. Has about 12 varies includin' limousine, Opel 2L engine, etc.
2111 - hatchback, in export Lada 111.
2112 - vagon, in export Lada 112.
2170 - restyled sedan, in all versions has name Priora.
Niva line. Compact SUV, AWD.
2121 - 3-door, 1600
2122 - swimming concept, didn't produced
21213 - restyled 2121, 1700 and mods.
2130 - stretched 21213 on 0.5m.
2131 - stretched as 2130, 5-doors.
2120 Nadezhda - 4-door minivan on the same stretched base.

Kalina class B car, 1400, 1600.
1118 - sedan,
1119 - hatchback,
1117 - vagon.
So, if you're writin' Lada 1600, it's not understandable what kind model do you mean, coz rather different models, even lines, has 1600.
GAZ. Gorky auto plant in Nizhny Novgorod (my homecity).
Now i'm talkin about GAZelle line, coz founded some mistakes on the site. Try explain a rule.
GAZelle - 1,5 ton truck or van with co-paired wheels on rear axle.
Sobol - 0,9 ton truck or van with single wheels on rear axle and it has a smaller base.
Bargousine - version of Sobol van with lower roof. If you will call it Sobol, it will not be mistake.
So, if it was usefull, i'll be glad. If it must be continued let me know.
