Subject: IGCD on Facebook

Since IMCDB has its own group on Bookface, I thought I would create one for IGCD as well:

Please 'like' if you can, it all helps :zoubi: I'm trying to update it fairly regularly.

many thanks SWF, and I will join!

It makes me think I should make a Facebook page. Currently we just have a group, but with recent changes on Facebook the groups to which someone has joined are not displayed anymore, I think.
It would also allow to put a "like" button on imcdb home page
I should maybe also put such "like" button on each vehicle & movie page :figti:

Is this what was to blame for the Book of Faces going down last night?

I agree, I think Bookface is a valuable promotional tool. I've been trying to encourage Rinspeed to embed it onto the site as well but he doesn't seem to agree.

I have Liked/joined whatever it is called these days.

Nice that there is a link on the homepage to save me logging on.

I definitely think IGCD needs the same integration.

The Like button? It is very easy to do, there is a code to copy/paste

I think I am the newest to "Like" both IMCDb and IGCD! Great idea guys. I am sure it will help the site.

EDIT: By the way (if you don't mind me throwing in a plug), IMPDb also has one.
Because we aren't as cool, we are slower on the Likes. :petrus:

Do you think you could give that code to Rinspeed antp so IGCD can also have this feature?

Also do you know if there is a way to implement the like feature on individual movie/game pages? I sometimes post some of them on our Facebook page so it would be nice to be able to do this on the main site as well.

For the code of the "like" button, it is very easy.
Just check the code of imcdb home page, there is an <iframe> tag, in which you have to replace imcdb's fan page address by igcd's fan page. Else you can obtain that code from a page on Facebook.

For the "link" on individual pages, I plan to add it. It is nearly as easy, but some additional info have to be added in the page header so it appears like "*** likes [vehicle name] from [movie name] on [site name]"

I was planning to add it for vehicles, do you think that having it for movies is useful? For liking movies it is rather IMDB that you would use, no? But it costs nothing to add it, though

Hmm I saw it as liking the contributions to the page rather than the movie/game itself but I guess it could be taken in any way. I would say if it's easy to implement then we might as well, it would give a good idea of the most popular movies/games and cars on both sites.

Anyway I'll wait that the database is moved to a new server before adding this, since it could bring new visitors, we do not need such extra load for the moment
