Hm. But he had no reason to hide!

Just today I learned Andre Malraux was a famous author. Up until now I'd believed it was 'our' Andre's actual name, and sounded not very Romanian.

I chose this name, because he's my favourite author. His novels ("L'Espoir", about the spanish civil war, is the best, in my opinion) are based on his own experiences. They are adventure novels, but, in the same time, very profound. After "L'Espoir", "La Voie royale" it's the best. Followed by "La Condition humaine" and "Les Conquerants". But this is only my personal classification.

This was my last answer to Ingo, here http://www.imcdb.org/movie.php?id=270957 , before Antoine deleted all. I post it also here, in the eventuality that Ingo has not read it already.

"But my dear Ingo, you forget one thing, and I will repeat it every time will be necessary:

"The Argentines on the Islands were expelled by the Royal Navy and the United Kingdom subsequently began a population implantation process similar to that applied to other territories under colonial rule."

And Romania should not belong to Moldova, but Moldova REALLY belongs to Romania. It was stolen from us by the russians in 1940 and they colonized it with USSR people. But they still speak romanian (only they pretend it's moldovan  ). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bessarabia

Transnistria (which is nothing else than a part of Moldova) is also REALLY romanian territory, stolen from us by the russians: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transnistria .

Anyway... I don't think is wise to abuse of Antoine's patience."
12/03/2013 @ 21:07:21: Andre Malraux: The off-topic discussion thread, dedicated to the clemency of the admin's nerves
I add that even the name of "Moldova" is romanian. Romania has three historical provinces: Moldova, Wallachia and Transylvania. All of them speak the same language and they have the same culture from ages. They were first united in 1599, by Michael the Brave. They were separeted in 1601 by the habsurgs, poles and turks, who all had their interests here, and Michael was assassinated. Moldova and Wallachia reunited in 1859. Transylvania was added in 1918. That part of Moldova which was stolen from us by the russians we name it "Basarabia" (from romanian Basarab dinasty who ruled Moldova in the middle ages). They call it "The Republic of Moldova", which is a stupid name, because Moldova still is (and always was) the name of the eastern romanian province. We still say "I go in Moldova (or in Wallachia, or Transylvania).". Or "I'm from Moldova (or Wallachia, or Transylvania).". I'm from Wallachia, from instance, but my mother was born in Moldova.

So the Republic of Moldova is nothing else than a part of big Moldova which still is (and always was) in Romania.

And Transnistria is a part of Moldova. It was ruled by romanian* kings since middle ages.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

* We had this name long before the unity of all three provinces. The foreigners said to all of us "romanians" because these places were roman colonies in antiquity and romanian is a latin language.

I didn't. It was another admin.

You can find other examples like that.
Belgium's Luxembourg province vs Duchy of Luxembourg
Greece's Macedonia region vs Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia

However I guess that the US's Georgia state is not linked to the ex-USSR one.

Yes, but in the case of the Republic of Moldova it's an "artificial" name, which they (re)invented in 1991. This name existed long before 1991. In the time of Stephen III of Moldova (or Stephen the Great, how we call him), who lived between 1433 - 1504 and ruled Moldova 47 years, between 1457 - 1504, this territory stretched between eastern Carpatians to the river Nistru. So including the Republic of Moldova.

It's a senseless question. antp has told you to move your long discussion somewhere else but despite that, you continued it. Why does it matter who deleted it? You always seem to have the feeling this is Youtube and not a website that is focused on identifying cars.
12/03/2013 @ 21:56:27: Andre Malraux: The off-topic discussion thread, dedicated to the clemency of the admin's nerves
I don't wonder why it was deleted, I wonder who deleted it. I'm just curious. I want to know who is more severe than Antoine. In other words, who's more catholic than the pope.

Not me, if you mean that.
Btw it was Bessarabia on old maps of Russia, but bolsheviks renamed it in Moldavian Republic. We "stole" it earlier than 1940, in XIX century, from Turkey.

I never thought it was you.

More exactly in 1812 (in 1918 it became part of Romania, in 1940 it's stolen one more time), but not from Turkey, from us, since Moldova and Wallachia were, at that time, part of Turkish Empire (the turks had not soldiers here, we only had to pay a sum of money every year and they let us in peace).

Anyway, when I say "russians stole it from us", I mean russian rulers, not russian people. We never had anything against russian people, on the contrary, we always had for you only friendly feelings. (I think it's obvious in my case. )

So let's be very clear: we never blamed russian people for what tsar Alexander I or Stalin did. It will be equally stupid as blaming german people for what Hitler did.

Nor was it me. I was too busy trying to bite my tongue about the islands. In my opinion they should be self-determining though I imagine that neither the British government nor the Argentinian one would want that to happen (oil + trading routes being the real reason for that I guess). de Kirchner is trying to do a Thatcher by using the islands as a means to make some political capital and lead to the people there forgetting they want to vote her out at the next election.

The history of Europe: a huge "mess" like the Argentinian population (absolutely no offence for Argentinians, but the surname Bergoglio is quite popular here in Piedmont...)

"The Argentines on the Islands were expelled by the Royal Navy and the United Kingdom subsequently began a population implantation process similar to that applied to other territories under colonial rule."

The big difference here was, that there was no native indigenous Falkland-population. noone had lieved there before.

And the Argentinians today aren't a ancient nation either, although the are independent since nearly 200 years. Over 90% of the Argentinians are the descendants from Spanish, Italian, German and Polish settlers. And they acted like imperialists and colonists, too. See, what they made with the indigene native people.

This fact makes me pondering, if there's ANY European border, which was NOT founded by imperialism or colonialism (in Africa, America and Oceania ALL borders are based on that, even the state-borders in the USA.

And annother question: what is the oldest existing, never touched again, border in Europe? Between Spain and Portugal maybe? Of course nothing in Eastern or Middle Europe (Switzerland as little exception maybe?)

Right now in Germany there's a historically and politically not correct equation, as there's a discussion about a "Romanian invasion". An incident, which causes big social and ecnonomical problems in the related areas, rougher quarters in poorer towns, like Duisburg and Dortmund.
Those "invaders" have mainly Romanian, also Bulgarian papers (if they have papers at all), but they all are gipsies, Romani people. Annother reason to mix the names up: Romani/Roma (in German) with Romanians. Many Germans does not make a difference, so it's bad for the reputation of all Romanians.

@Andre Malraux: do you have known, that Ceasescu has sold citizens? A similar dealing as the DDR did with political prisoners. He got money from the West German government to let the German minority http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rum%C3%A4niendeutsche emigrate (over 1 billion D-Mark, ca.500 million € totally). Likely, that some D-Mark were spent in west Germany, as for http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle.php?id=446325 for example.
