Oil change

What do people here normally pay for an oil change?

125 euros was what I last paid the SAAB dealer.

That was a little steep. At the local garage 57 euros (no invoice, no VAT) but not sure what type of oil or filter they put in exactly, so next time I'll just do it myself. Got the General Motors 10W40 oil from Amazon, and a Purflux LS245. (good French brand)

22.36 + 4.38 = 26.74 euro for the next 8000 to 10000 km.

$60 at Wal-Mart here in the U.S. I do all my own oil changes now though so it doesn't cost me anything other than for the new oil

It is usually more expensive in the dealer garage than in a garage that does repairs on any car make.
For the 208 for the yearly service (mostly oil change, plus a few other things) it is 200€, but back when I had the 106 (16 years ago) it was rather a little above 100€.
At that time it was already cheaper to go elsewhere for just an oil change. Maybe it is a good compromise to go in a known big garage like Midas, between the make-dealer prices and the local garage without invoice/VAT

And have a job student working on it? I don't think so, antp. This is what happens at these places: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-avpx8UTakI

Even at the Saab dealer, a cabin air filter replacement was on the invoice. It definitely was not done, it was so full of dust and debris, possibly from 1998. (In my case it involves removing the wipers to access, so not a fast job and they know it's not easy to check.)

I didn't paid so much getting myself 4 quarts of oil for US$ 4.00 each and the oil filter for less than US$ 4.00. Not bad for the total cost of US$ 20 when I change my own oil on my Chevrolet Aveo last Sunday
