I am a huge train fan (more so then a car fan). What I want to know is, can any of you think of movies that have trains casted in major roles? I know there is the Silver Streak, but can you guys think of any others? I can not tell you how much I live for trains, I mean they are so forgotton and in America, it is safe to say they brought America to a whole by making trans-continental transport possible, and remote states like Alaska may never have formed without rails. Also, I'm a big Lionel fanatic (the best companies in my opinion are: Ford, Lionel and Microsoft), I have small layout in a "L" shape with three main sets of trains (excluding my large variaty of odds and ends), a 2003 Lionel Pennsylvania Railroad Flyer freight engine (a 4-4-2 steam engine, a Pennsy gondola, box car and caboose), a 2003 lionel New York Central Railway Limited passenger train (powered by a F7 diesel hauling two passenger cars and an observation car) and a 1997 Lionel Santa Fe Freight Express (a 4-4-2 steam, a Santa Fe duel-door boxcar, operating log carrier, a piggy-back flat car with a Sante Fe trailer, a open auto-carrier with two cars and a illuminated Santa Fe caboose). I use two old Lionel basic controllers and a Mini-Z. I plan to get a NYC Hudson, more accessories and a TrainMaster Command Controlle unitand light-duty system.

Do you know what trains are on them? I am guessin "Murder on the Orient Express" features the Orient Express right?

If you know about trains maybe you could help me ? I just found an old model railroad from an abandoned house (soon to be demolished). I don't know the manufacturer. Only a cardboard cover is left from the original packing. It says "Made in U.S.Zone in Germany". So I think this railroad was made just after WWII in US controlled part of Germany during the period of 1945-1948(?). Here's a few pictures I took:

This model railroad is complete, I think all parts are there: four sections of rail, a train (works by a spring), coal carriage and one passenger carriage.

Who is the manufacturer ? Is it valuable ?

Raul1983, I am not 100% sure but I'm guessing they are from around 1945, (and if in good shape, worth a lot of cash) and not American made (or a very small US company). The Big Three train sellers in the early 1900s were Lionel, American Flyer and Ives (even though Ives passed on in the Great Depression), as for this brand I was thinking may Bachmann/Bachmann Spectrum (but I specialize in Lionel and MTH trains from 1940 on). Now, it is either from around 1920 or was very much behind other companys. Other competitors in the early 50s already had smoke and whistles, moving parts and pistons and were hauling like 10 or more car trains. I can confirm it is not Lionel/Ives/American Flyer. Might be LGB also. But save it, get it looked over by an antique specialist and if it is worth something, either keep it or sell it. But the steam engine is a 0-2-0 steam engine, probably British, and the passenger car is British (95% sure on this). Have you run it yet?

One more thing; in the cardboard cover there's a small manufacturer logo and I think it says O.B. or B.0. Does that ring a bell ?

Like I mentioned earlier the train is spring-operated. During many decades the spring has tired a bit and it can't pull all carriages anymore In fact the only way to get the train move is by adjusting the spring on the floor and then let it go.

Hmmm, not really. Maybe Bahmann? Or Bachmann O guage depending on size.

Cops (admins), can car maker made trains be added? I know, I know, it'll be no. But like Renault and Bugatti made trains, or at least designed them for a while.

BTW, I ordered a Lionel 4-8-2 Berkshire on eBay, and I have been trying to learn as much as possible about Berkshire type engines. Does anyone here know if Berkshires (4-8-2s) were made outside of the U.S. shores? As far as I can tell, they were made in US only by ALCO, and were mainly used on the Nickel Plate Road.
