Hello everyone,

I have a bit of an odd request, I'm not very knowledgeable about cars, but I co host a movie podcast and I sometimes do a very short bit where if the movie features any cars prominently I mention any interesting info, or sometimes just the names of the makes and models of the main vehicles used. And I've used the information you guys have accumulated on the IMCDb several times.

Soon we're covering The Flintstones movie from 1994 and while I have accumulated a little information about the Flintmobile from this site, I am curious about this car from the movie...

https://pics.imcdb.org/3321/i952541.jpg

I spent a bunch of time trying to find any information online about it, but the focus is understandably on the main iconic car. I was wondering if anyone knew if this car had a fictional name, or even if it's shape/design was based on any real world cars at all, or even where such a thing might be today?

Anyway, thought it was worth asking, if anyone has any information I'd be grateful.

Thanks for your time!

In the Québec version they call it a " Mammouth-Benz " , " mammouth being the french word for " mammoth " but i don't know how they call it in english as i saw it only in french

It always makes me think a little bit of an AC/Shelby Cobra but its only a personal perception and not an official statement

I don't know but it reminds a bit of Sabra Sport.

Very interesting, they don't seem to name it in the English language version. So I'll mention this. I also did take a moment to compare to the AC Shelby Cobra, and it does definitely share a few design and aesthetic choices. Whether intentional or not.

Thanks very much for the information.

This is also a interesting one. Not exact, but definitely some shared design philosophy. Again, no idea if intentional or not, but a cool comparison. I wonder if the designer borrowed bit's from several different cars?

Thanks for your help also. The closest I could find was the 1957 Ferrari 335 S Spider Scaglietti, which I don't think fits quite as well.

well , they don't name it when Fred buys it but when the bad guy exposes his plan to Fred he goes like " Fred , you added another floor to the house , got a convertible Mammoth-Benz , no one will believe you .. " ( something around that , i don't remember exactly what he says )

Thanks so much for this! This was the missing piece I needed. I checked the same scene and in the English version in that scene he calls it a Le Saber Tooth.

A quick google has shown toys of the car from the 90s that refer to it as the Le Saber Tooth 5000!

I'd missed that during the scene entirely.
