This is an advertisement for a newer Pajero. They used the theme song from Last of the Mohicans, I really like the amount of detail and awesome effects. If only they used MY YEAR haha. I can't believe this is done so well. Do other SUVs have these kinds of commercials, I'm not counting H2s because they're ridiculous. This is just epic.

Hummer made a full-length advertisement for their complete model line-up a few years back. I remember reading in a 4-wheel drive magazine, that none of the vehicles featured in the ad were modified in anyway, and never needed assistance while filming.

Ingo: The Gael does seem right, I wish I could find the version from the movie that they used in the first video I posted. There are several on Itunes but never the right version. It's too bad it's so difficult to find songs from movies sometimes. I would really like to know where these videos were filmed, and if the high cliff shot is in Monte Carlo or if some was made in South Africa.

@Montero: about the scene, where the Pajero drive across the flat water, I am not really sure, but the others are quite surely made in Southern Africa, perhaps Namibia. Ground and vegetations are looking like that.
The only "Namibian chance" for the beach-scene would be the beach north of Lüderitz, otherwise the coast is too rough over there. Or its not possible to reach it.

It's very common for car-brands to make the pics for commercials and sales brochures in Southern Africa. Fascinating, foreign looking landscapes, good light (because dry climate), infrastructure and at least cheap prices.

When we made vacations in Namibia in March 2006, we saw a convoi of around 20 Audi Q7, Audi A8 and VW Eos, going North to the National Parks.


Yes, it's often very difficult or tricky to collect movie-songs in the movie-version.

I only had a bad selfmade VHS-tape-copy of this film. For a lot of years there was no video- or DVD-release of it. And in the pre-Youtube-time there was no chance to get the song somewhere.
A guy, one of the craziest 60ies- and 70ies-music-collectors, told me, that the original song "The Brain" of "The American Breed" was released only one time, on the B-side of annother song and annother time, on one French sampler of 60ies-music.
Some months ago I found the Youtube of it - but the song-version, not the movie-version with the machinegun-sound in the background.



Does anyone here remember the Wrigley's Spearmint-commercial of the lates 70ies ("Wrigley's Spearmint gum, gum gum....")? There the people carried oversized chewing-gum-packets with them.
That music-freak has told me, that no orginal record of this song is existing any more, to tape, nothing. Only old videos of the spot itself.

I finally found the track on Limewire, I was actually prepared to pay for it. It's seems to be covered by James Horner, he does lots of movie music. It's only about 4:00 minutes long, about the length of the first video. I was listening to it today in between classes, and I have to say that it's highly entertaining.

That bit about South Africa is really interesting, that's a great thing to know. I've only been around North America and Europe, I haven't been to Africa yet. After watching this commercial it's really intriguing.

It is indeed, I can recommend it very much. South Africa and Namibia are fascinating indeed, totally different landscapes than we know from Europe. Only the security-problems in ZA makes you a bit cramped, but it's up to your behaviour.

And especially Namibia is something for offroad-fans. The majority of street is just gravel, only a few long distance-highways are paved. It's really not neccessary, that you go with your 4x4-car somewhere into the dunes or bushes to make the real offroad-experience (and destroy the sensitive nature). Sometimes the regular street after a rain is enough.
We'd been there just two weeks after the heaviest rain of the last 54 years, so some streets were hard to pass.
If you are there, you really should take a 4x4-car. The most interesting places you cannot reach with a regular car. Of if you try it, you'll damage the car. The other tourists we met, who had a normal car like a VW Polo or Toyota Corolla, had a plenty of minor or bigger damages. From a cracked bumper to a smashed engine. A couple from London tried to pass a stony creek with their VW Polo. The guy said: "Suddenly was a big bang and the whole street was full with oil" - he smashed the bottom of the engine-block on the rocks.
So we had been very happy with our Single-cab Nissan "Hardbody" ("Navarra" in Europe).
