Thanks, I added it. But for the next contributions please use the "New topic" link on the page where all topics are listed rather than add a reply to this one

Antp, could I be a moderator? I check this thread often and I could help delete these messages.

Sure
Thanks for the help.

Only solution would be to force users to register, but then people cannot post as anonymous to make non-spam contributions, which can be annoying as it was one of the reasons of making this section of the forum.
As long as the spam comes only on this topic (99% of spam comes here) it is easy to clean.

I agree. We should make it a requirement to register in order to contribute pics, as with making comments on the site. I always like to see whoever contributed to a certain movie, so it's not just a question mark.

I have submitted pictures several times by the ImageShack thumbnail method described above in the original message of this topic, but it seems to not always work well. I was thinking I may try the ZIP file by e-mail method instead, but am not familiar with using ZIP files. Is there free ZIP software you would recommend?

Also, with the relatively small file sizes of the resized images (~30-60 KB) is compression really necessary, or could they be emailed directly as .jpg attachments?

Thanks

It is easier for us a zip file rather than multiple separate jpeg. It is not for the compression, but for the fact that there is only one file to download, as most of the admins access to the email account using webmail and not using Outlook or similar.
For making zip files, there is 7zip that is free, but it is maybe not the easiest to use. You can also try Izarc. There are many other free programs but I do not know them.

I also had a question in regards to not knowing the years of all of the vehicles: Would it still helpful for me to contribute pictures from the dvds I own which are missing from this site, or is that just creating more work for someone else to then have to go back and try to figure out the years the vehicles were made?

Some of us add lots of cars as "unknown", because we do not all know all the cars (e.g. except for 90s Caprice & Crown Victoria, I usually cannot identify US cars very well, and I am unable to put years on them).
So it is not a big problem. It is better to contribute with "unknown" cars than trying to guess and having other people correcting those that were false (but if you are sure, or nearly, for a model, you can submit it as you identified it).
Also check the "Coming Soon" topic to not make captures that another admin has planned to do soon, as it would be a duplicate work.

I'm having a lot of trouble getting pics. Somebody on another board just turned me on to a program that was supposed to help(CyberLink PowerDVD), but it doesn't let me find the screencaps I've made. And I was getting so close to getting pics of cars, trucks, buses, and what not from these lists:

...and then some.

Maybe that the captures are stored in the program's folder? Else you may try to do a search on PDVD*.* on your whole computer, to find these, as the program gives that prefix to its captures if I remember well.

I tried that, and it didn't work. Sure I found some pics that had the PDVD prefix, but none of them were the ones I took screenshots of. I can't even find where the program's folder is.

Did you check in the options if you can specify the output folder? Maybe it is invalid and so it cannot save the files?

One other thing I was wondering about is if ImageShack for one reason or another no longer existed, what would happen to all of the images on IMCDb? Are they somehow backed-up or hosted on the IMCDb page independently of ImageShack? Also, if I delete images I have contributed to IMCDb from “My Images” at ImageShack, will they be gone from IMCDb as well?

Main image of each vehicle is stored on IMCDB's server, so it is safe.
I try to backup all the images posted on imageshack in the comments of the site, in the case that imageshack disappear (and also because someone few picture seem to be deleted by imageshack).
You can delete the images that were posted as main picture cars, but not those that were simply copied in the comments, as we reuse the same link. If you wish to be able to delete them, put a warning in your message when you provide the images on the forum so we know that the link cannot be reused  (but anyway for non-main images, it is not useful to post them on the forum, you can yourself post them in the comments once the main image has been uploaded)

The problem with those instructions was, when I clicked the "Advanced" button, it told me I should click the snapshot tab, but there wasn't any.

I also use PowerDVD, but then just "Paste new image from clipboard" into a photo editor after the capture. Has worked well, since one needs to resize/ edit anyway. Hope it works for you.

And how do you copy? Using a feature of PowerDVD? The problem then is that, if I am correct, it copies the image as it is on the screen and not in its original size (i.e. enlarged or reduced, depending on the window size)
