15 things on the verge of extinction on UK roads

So we have no roadworthy Tagoras left, only 1 LNA, 6 Argentas (more than I expected!!), 1 Trevi, 6 Audi V8 etc. And very few Ambassadors, Itals, Belmonts, original XR3 ....

And which are completely extinct? 0 registered, 0 SORNed.

Tried a couple of ideas, thinking of things which were unloved in period so hardly sold any, and which are forgotten today and/or so naff that nobody would decide to bring in as an eccentric personal import. Seems we still have about 400 CityRovers, four Seat/Fiat 133 (2 on road, 2 SORN), and 1 or 2 Alfa 6 left. However seems our last Alfa 90 melted away in 2016, and although we still have a few Yugo/Zastava 45 and 55 still trundling around, we've lost all the others eg Sana, 311, 313, 413, 513.

The Yugo Sana is not yet lost. This is the best example in the UK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkQYhskmpKI

On the subject of forgotten cars: only 1 Sao Penza left.

Yeah, most of these are "cars people on Autoshite have" https://autoshite.com/topic/36034-sao-penza/

Fairly sure someone had a UK market Tagora SX at one point, to the point that they had it fully restored.

Sounds like a football chant "There's only one Sao Penza, one Sao Penza ...".

Apparently three Lonsdales still exist. Could be hours of festive fun ahead ....

And another similar feature 15 1970s unicorn classics

Not sure I totally believe everything there - only 18 Silver Shadows looks very dodgy and I'm sure there are more Capri RS 3100s, but some others look convincing and pleased that there's a few still chugging away- under 20 Simca 1301/1501, Renault 6, K70 (didn't we have someone who liked then amongst us??) etc. SAAB Sonett is a bit of a cheat because they were never sold here, so more surprising that we've got so many rather than so few.

The nearly extincts on life support include 1 solitary Polski Fiat 125P, 2 SORN Moskvitch 412, only 2 roadworthy Ranchos, 5 DAFs (all models).

And recently saw a separate claim that we only have 1 running Daihatsu Taft left - if true, it could be this one with a Mini body (FCG 263W) which is still alive on DVLA, so we have no original unmolested ones.

only 2 roadworthy Ranchos

A few months ago, in one of their podcasts, Smith & Sniff (that's Jonny Smith and Richard "Sniff Petrol" Porter) were losing their collective marbles because TWO immaculate Ranchos were for sale online, in Britain and at the same time.

It would be weird if those same two were the only roadworthy Ranchos in the UK.

Another batch, this time 1960s. Some fuzzy entries due to alternate names on databases, so it's not as solid as previous lists. We've only got 24 Bristol 407/408/409/410 left from about 320 made and apparently only one Skoda 1000 MB (which is in Skoda's heritage collection). Some other things in the list were never sold here, so the surprise is that we've got any, rather than how few.

PS have edited the thread title to remove "1980s", in case anyone's wondering. Didn't realise it was possible, but tried it and it worked. Is it an intentional feature or a blip??

It is intentional; it is your thread so you can update its title or first post if needed.

Another round-up, this time for 1990s.

Not as many oddballs or surprises as previous lists.

there was someone on my street who had a Nissan Pulsar/Sunny GTI-R a long time ago before Québec pushed back to 25 years the law for RHD cars . I never knew which one it as ( i suppose a Pulsar ) because the rear was rarely seen ( not sure if there was a difference on the front and Google Street View blurred it up ... )
