Adding cars to the site
Published 30/11/2006 @ 23:56:19, By wrenchhead
My busy summer is almost over and its time I got back to IMCDB. Last winter we were mostly posting only cars that were clearly visible, rare or interresting.

I just looked through the unknown cars and find that there are a lot of partial, blurry, or very small pics that I doubt can ever be identified.

Have we changed guidelines? Are we now listing all cars that can seen in a movie even if only partially visible or hidden by fog, fire, etc.?

Normally not, but some members post anything that looks a little like a car
But last winter it was already like that I think.
IMHO cars that do not have a role in movie (i.e. 1-star) should be included only if clearly visible (also means not too small) and/or visible for long time and/or if they really have some interest (e.g. rare car, but if it is nearly hidden / too small / completely blurred, I am not sure that it is worth listing it anyway).

Thanks, I agree and will post accordingly.

I just got a tv capture card and think I can get decent pics from cable tv. Will post some if they turn out well.

I cleaned the oldest ones few days ago (there were 74 pages). I did that up to 04/2006.
i.e. deleting very blurry/far background unidentified, puting a name when one was suggested in comments but still not approved by somebody else, keeping only make when model cannot be found, etc.
Do you do not really have to do it, I'll continue when I'll have few time
But if you want to identify cars, you are of course welcome

Yes, I do that once a while. (Except from deleting) Identifying is quite fun actually, but it takes time....

When identifying cars can we include the Chassis Nrs, that way we can also trace the historical journey that car has taken. I.e. Am trying to find information on the Rolls-Royce Binder Bodied Silver Ghost that was in The Great Gatsby but I have no Chassis Nr as it was removed sometime during the 50s. This car is a mystery and I would love to try & help the current owner find the original details. Can anyone help? SBJ
