Have people ever critisized you because of your car?

My F150 (future F150 anyway) isn't a special type of vehicle. It's just an ordinary Truck with a V8, 4 speed automatic, and some minor damage. It needs some work on it, but at lease it still runs. I know you G-MANN, may think that I could get something smaller, but since our Cadillac is a company car and that we still have the truck, what else can we do with it? I'm getting a license in a few weeks, and since my parents are extremely busy right now it would be convenient for me to drive to school while they can go to work. The good thing is, I'm getting a car and I am going to use it to go to school and back, and to help my parents with their errands. I do not need to have my very own car, but for now, my mom is providing me her spare car.

I know a kid who's parents got him a brand new 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited 4x4 with all the options (cost the parents $41,000+). He had it six months, then totaled it in a two-car wreck he caused. What did his parents do? Buy him a brand new 2007 Highlander Hybrid Limited.. He didn't pay a cent.
I was on your youtube account and saw a competative video of your Tempo startup to a highlander Hybrid's start up. Is that the same guy?

This is a crazy question I know, but have people ever critisized you by the car you drive? (for example too old, too crappy or too small)
Ah, it was so often by so many people, that I cannot count it. The reputations of my VW K 70 was very low in the past. Now it's getting different.
But I never took care about it. The opinion of other people never was important for me.
Even my wife don't like my car. She is interested in cars, but not in mine. Oough, it was quite problematical, last May. We had married then, and before my wife was really upset, when I've said "K 70 as wedding-car, otherwise no wedding".

That happened to me alot. My first car was a 1992 Cavalier wagon (that alone got me jeers) It was maroon with spots of primer and rust all over it. My 1996 Escort sedan also got me critisism due to its size, looks and lack of power. My 1995 Cutlass Ciera sedan was another because it was a "granny mobile" and had different colored body panels. I got repect with my 2001 Cavalier Z24 and my new 2007 Cobalt. I never really cared about what people said. The wagon and the Ciera had pretty powerful motors that left alot of people in the dust. Besides, those cars got me where I needed to go and that's the important part right?

What people think of our cars. Like if person 1 saw person 2 driving a banged up 1990 Camry and person 1 says "You suck. Your car is crap. You're a loser."
Hey now, don't make fun of old Camrys, we have a 1988 Camry and it looks just fine:
It has a wonderful interior, a nice ride, it's very good on gas, and it's not a bad looking car either. If I had to choose between a brand new $80,000 Mercedes and this car, I would chose the Camry any day.
By the way, speaking of old crappy cars, I've got one that will beat all of you:
This is my dad's 1980 Datsun Station Wagon (I forget the exact model)
This car was so cheap, it actually had VINYL seats and NO factory radio! My dad had to start the car with a screwdriver instead of with a key! (the ignition switch had broke I guess) We ended up junking having to junk it some time aroud 1999 after 250,000 long miles. This is surely the crappiest car my family has ever owned (and we've owned some real junkers over the years, beleive me!)

Funniest reaction I ever had was the day I drove my bus to work. I pulled in and was rolling my windows up when the president of my company parked next to me in his new Audi. We got out of our cars and he looked at me and said "don't we pay you enough to drive something nicer than that?" I knew he was joking. He still asks about it, but now I can't drive it 6 hours to work for him to see - plus it's still in the back yard where it's been sitting for the past 2 years.

Sorry dude. This wasn't anything to offend you. Also because this discussion started before you became a member.
If you were here when we started talking about this I would have said 1975 Pacer instead.

??? The GTO has nothing at all to do with the Cavalier, it is simply a rebadged Commodore/Omaga

I have heard people say that the GTOs looked liked oversized Cavaliers.

Well they are sadly misinformed. There is not a single bolt on that car that is shared with the Cavalier. Different class, different drivetrain, different platform, different body, different everything

Yes. However people I guess didn't like the GTO, now it's no longer sold, again.

The GTO is a Monaro, nothing like the Cavalier. Sure it shared parts with the Commodore, but not that many. The GTO/Monaro rocks!

Well actually it is. It is just a four-door and is called "G8"

The GTO was derivated from a previous generation of Commodore, but the current Commodore/G8 cannot be considered as its replacement: it just replaces the sedan Commodore/Grand Prix.
