Does anyone know of a site similar to www.mycarcheck.com, but for french registration numbers - in other words getting the cars make & model by keying in the registration number?

The reason I ask is that I have just bought a set of french registration plates off Ebay (yes, sad I know!) that came off a scrapped car and I am intrigued to know what car they were on. I know they were off a Renault and the actual number was issued in 1998/99.

As far as I know it does not exist.
Only thing that you can know is the year of the plate (which is not even especially the year of the car).
