What time of day do you like to drive? Sunset/sunrise, broad daylight, night? Do you have a preferred season to drive (fall, summer, etc.) or weather condition? Post here!

I'm sure I'll be alone here, but I love driving in the really early morning. There is nothing like cruising down the road, listening to U2 or Goo Goo Dolls, watching the sun rise over the mountains. I also like just driving at night, period. Something about being in your car with your iPod plugged in, in total warmth when the temperatures outside are below zero. I'm a freak, oh well.

I like to drive when it is snowing because it is rather unusual here.
I also like to drive in the city when there is fog, it makes a special atmosphere.
I also like to drive in the city in the night, when streets are nearly empty

Really, snowing?? I'm always a little worried when driving when there is snow. There is always a possibility of getting stuck or losing control.

Springtime on the back-roads of North Carolina’s mountain range, preferably in the morning hours. Turn off the radio, roll down all the windows, open up the moon roof. It’s just peaceful.

I like traveling through urban freeways at night after rush hour, anytime after 8pm. That is the time that those roads are still energetic, yet free-flowing. (Think of Madonna's Ray of Light video.)

Here there is really not much snow, so getting stuck is not much a problem And losing control, yes, it is a risk, but everybody drives very slowly when there is snow as it is not usual.
Last weekend I was in the east of the country, where there is a little more often snow that in the centre (I know, it is a very small country, but the 200 km in distance and 400 m in height are enough for that), so I could drive in the snow...



(though that for you who are from Alaska, such low amount of snow is probably considered as "no snow" )

Farther up north and in the mountains, NC gets snow every winter. However we very rarely get snow here in the far lower southeastern portion of NC. We have a semi tropical climate here. When we do get snow it’s not a lot (it all easily melts away in a few hours/or a day or two)

Exactly the same in here, in higher towns of my region they do get snow every winter yet rarely in my city, and just like Neptune says whenever we happen to get snow it's a very few and melts down very quickly, i wish we had it some time for sure it's fun and different when we get it, but i don't want it as permanent like in other regions since it can become annoying.

The perfect driving conditions for me would be driving through the city at night while it's snowing. My dream driving condition would be Times Square at night while it's snowing, that would be so beautiful But sadly the times that I have visited Times Square it was not snowing, plus I didn't have a car to drive anyway.

Ah yes, we do get quite a bit of snow up here..

I can't imagine people liking snow, especially driving in it! Very few people seem to like driving in the winters up here. Although I will say so far this winter has gone well as far as driving is concerned. I have new studded winter tires for my Tempo, and it just literally plows through the snow..

Driving late at night when I don't have to put up with Southern California traffic

To each his own ... I can’t stand driving through a congested city for a prolonged amount of time. It wears on my nerves after a while. Wilmington is bad enough for me (I can only imagine NYC) Whenever I’m driving my sister’s car, people constantly cut me off in traffic or pull out in front of me. Though in my vehicle this is not so much a problem. City driving is just not for me.

I like driving at night, in the rain, but I've only done it a couple of times.

As I have never driven, my favourite time to be in the car is either early in the morning (4.30am-6.30am), or late at night (10.30pm-12.00am). When heading towards to city lights, it makes a beutiful scene. Aslo, I like driving on country roads at any time. Rolling hills are beutiful

@Max: to drive in N.Y., also the Times Square by snow, is not funny - it's even not possible.
I made the experience, how the conditions are, when there is new snow coming in Manhattan an N.J., just this February. It was awful!
a)N.Y.-drivers are absolutely unable to handle their vehicles during snow-times. Nearly as worse like British drivers.
b) the street- and highway-maintenance-teams are unable to clear the streets fast and well.
c) it's ugly to walk as a pedestrian through snowy N.Y.-streets either. The construction of boardwalks and gullies is idiotic. At every crossing street you
have to look, where you can put your feet without stepping into icy water



Back to topic: I prefer nice, sunny, clear weather to drive on empty streets, mainly the Autobahn, because it's relaxing.
I hate mountains, hills and curves. I want to have a straight, free way.

I have a long way to work everyday (130 km daily), so I use the best time to avoid stuck in traffic during the rush-hour (I havd to pass the whole, totally settled Ruhr-area). I get up to 5 in the morning and start around 5.30. Because I'm the first in office, I can leave early, so between 14.30 and 15.00. Sure, I could/should work overtimes, too, because there is enough work to do, but I always refuse it. I'd said to my boss: "No more money, no overtimes. No homeoffice, no overtimes"

It would be much more worse, if I would start between 7.00 and 8.00 in the morning and would go back between 16.00 and 17.00. I always avoid it.

P.S. I hate driving, when it's snow. The streets can be slippering, the car gets dirty as hell, you'll get salt everywhere at the chassis and a plenty of other drivers are too stupid to handle with snowing streets.

Fortunately I'm living in an area, where there is nearly no snow. So last week there was a heavy winterday ("heavy" for Northern Germany, different than in Bavaria). Everywhere it was snowy and icy - but not around our village.

And I'm happy, that overe here there aren't any mountains and hills around.



P.S.II: @folks: it's a big difference about your driving-affectations, if you want to drive by fun or if you have to drive every day.

I'm a (old-)car-fan, but I would be unbelievable happy, if I only had to use a car, just when I want.
