Well, I guess it’s not too early to say Merry Christmas.

So Merry Christmas to you too marioman3138, and everyone else.
Also have a wonderful Happy New Year.

By the way, what’s Christmas like at your home, in Australia? (if you don’t mind me asking)

Merry Christmas to imcdb members and visitors then, indeed it is probably not too early, I already received Christmas & New Year greetings from two friends.

In Australia it is the summer, I guess...

The best wishes from me, too!

Quite early opened, this thread.
I'm actually too busy with a lot of other things to get in Christmas-mood. Otherwise I'm getting a bit fed up with all the chocolades and other sweets, lying everywhere around in the office and at the family...

Have a Happy Chirstmas and hopefully a car-filled cracker of a year in 2009
Let's see IMCDb become even bigger in the new year, and look forward to continuing to being part of it.
Cheers!

Christmas in Austrlia is Summery (usually), instead of snow, sun. Does anyone else do up the outside of their house with Christmas lights? we have lots, as well as reinder, Santas, etc.

Yes, from some British friends who have been doing up a house in Algodonales for what seems to have been rather a long time (he used to be a scaffolder). Since I last saw them in 1989 they've lived in Malta, Western Australia and now Spain. Two of their three daughters still live in England; the other - married with (I think - I've lost count) three kids - is teaching English in Beijing!

No contact at all since 1989 except a card for xmas?! :wam:

I admire that people by the way, who go to live to another foreign country all of a sudden, sometimes even not knowing the native language of that country very well.

Well, I don’t go all-out for Christmas with a bazillion lights in the yard, but I do wrap the front lawn shrubbery and trees in lights, and hang garland along the Porsche (Oops, I mean "Porch" ) We also decorate the inside of the house and put-up a tree (typical Christmas Décor) Nothing special ...

This is what the kitchen looks like with it's Christmas Décor:

And here’s our tree (7½ foot Mt. Rainier Douglas-Fir) yes it’s artificial

I have some people in my "far family" (cousin of the husband of the sister of my mother, I think) who moved to Australia, and have a farm in the middle of nowhere
(and they have a Peugeot ! a 206 I think)

@ccf: the wife sends me a birthday card as well, and writes when she has the time which isn't very often; I think she's lost my e-mail address. (So I put it in my Christmas card.)

Oh, a precarious thematic... I must admit, that I really hate all these electric lights. Where I live now, it's a bit better (o.k., by the extreme high energy-prices this years maybe a lot of people have reduced that), but I had neighbours before, which had illuminated their house simila as Chevy Chase in "Christmans Vacations".
A bit precarious, because my wife would like to have one or two of these lights, but in the last years, she didn't use them, because I wouldn't be amused. But I'm a good son-in-law! My mother-in-law has a few of these lights at her house. When she said "How nice they are! What a lovely christmas-mood!" etc. pp, I'm answering always with a polite "Hrrmphh" or something like that. To avoid getting problems with my wife I don't say more.

But at the Christmas evening I'm always nagging about the electric candles at the tree. Only with real candles it's a real christmas-tree.

I have several friends (mainly K70-fans) all over the world, but from the closer family only one uncle is emigrated. Not really far away, just to Brussels.
I would be interested to visit a former school-friend of my father, she also had invited us. But this a a time ago. Actually it's better to forget the trip. She owns a farm in Zimbabwe. :ohwell:

Each year, the front yard of my house turns into some kind of freaky carnival fest.

May not seem like much from the picture, but you can see it from all the way at the end of the street.
