Jaguar S-Types

Please add [XJ3] code to all 1964-68 examples.

All the others we have - including all the currently undated examples - are the 1997-2007 version. In theory they could all become [X200] but it's a bit messier as that only applies 1999-2002, with subsequent models becoming [X202], [X204], and [X206] with the last digit denoting the model year, and I don't think our skills are good enough to make that work properly. Unless we just brass-neck it and call everything 1999-2007 as [X200], as the subsequent changes were ongoing evolutions rather than big abrupt things??

I'd say it is OK to use X200 as a generic code, like we do for the Toyota codes where the last digit also depends on details we don't always know.
I'll already apply the XJ3 to the old ones.

Last I looked, the Ford S-Types were fairly well sorted out for their years between the various revisions so would say it's easy to sort them out between at least X200, X202 and X204. The 2002 and 2004 revisions pretty much changed something on each of the views we're most likely to have (front, side, back and interior).

Question is whether it is useful to go to that precise system rather than just stick to X200.

@antp - thanks.

I think I'd vote for X200 across all 1999-2007 for simplicity, but I'm not up to speed on the smaller dating sequences.

I'd broadly be in favour of that too, even though we can be more specific the only purpose of the code is to separate out the Ford S-Types from the 60s ones so don't see why all the variations need to be used.

Sometimes I feel we can try to be too in-depth and make things too complicated.

If we use the dating changes to apply the appropriate years to the entries, then we are accurate for IDing them. The codes would not therefore give us a better collection or add anything beyond that.

So I think we're on the same wavelength.

OK, so I'll put X200 for all modern ones, to keep them together, as indeed we have the years for the specific versions.
It is always possible to change later anyway.

Are we sure that Typ 5K is the correct code for the 6th generation VW Jetta? Wiki states [Typ 5C6] whilst the only references that give 5K alongside Jetta are ourselves and sites that steal our data.

5K is the type of the Golf VI, so we just assumed that the Jetta was using the same one (as it did with previous generations).
Indeed we should maybe change that, even if it is useful to have the same code for the Jetta as the Golf.
In case of change, the wagon would keep the 5K I suppose, since it is a rebadged Golf?

2011 Buick Regal

Most have been listed as "Built in Canada", but the start of this model (2011 model year only) they were built in Germany until the Canadian plant was ready in February 2011, halfway through the model year. So this year can either be German or Canadian made that year.

http://imcdb.org/search.php?resultsStyle=asList&sortBy=0&yearFrom=2011&yearTo=20- 11&makeMatch=2&make=buick&modelMatch=1&model=regal&modelInclModel=on&modelInclChassis=- on&mk=&origin=&madein=&madefor=&role=

That can be confirmed here, where most of the VINs start with W and a few start with 2.

https://www.easyexport.us/vehicle-finder?clone-vehicleType=&clone-yearMin=2011&clone-yearMax=2011&clone-make=BUICK&clone-model=REGAL&pageNum=1

So please change to blank for "Built In"

Are the Volvo TP21 (see http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_1168558-Volvo-TP-21-L2104-1956.html ) in need of an update? Currently given L2104 meaning lastbil/truck. They are called P2104 (personbil/people carrier) in rather official documents like http://issuu.com/bbftx/docs/volvo-sugga-tp21-parts-reservdelskatalog-sec1to13?e=0
