Platform is something else than chassis/internal code, no?
Often the platform is shared by a lot of vehicles with no direct relation (or is that different for US cars than for EU cars?)

Technically, it's specific to a certain set of vehicles made. I'm not 100% sure but the AS platform for the 1991-95 Caravan's is only for that specific for those Chrysler minivans. Here's a link that shows the internal code's for the Chrysler vehicles
https://www.allpar.com/forums/threads/master-platform-body-codes-list.81103/
We already use a ton of these body codes on the website already. AS is another one unless they are incorrectly listed.

From the link you provided
" Standard and Poor's says that Ford is dropping its internally developed next-generation platform, known as D186 in favor of the P2X. "
To me it means that they didn't used it , or did for something else
" Lincoln Merrihew, an automotive analyst with Standard & Poor's office in Lexington, Massachusetts, predicted the Volvo-based Taurus would go into production for the 2005 model year. Volume will be about 400,000 units annually. "
i think it might have been the Five Hundred they're talking about, by 2005 the 2000-2007 gen Taurus even had a facelift
or maybe i'm just understanding it wrong

As dhill-cb7 found out, the 1998-2005 Chevrolet Blazer, GMC Jimmy, 1999-2000 GMC Envoy, and the 1998-2001 Oldsmobile Bravada use the chassis code GMT330. We aren't fully sure when it was introduced for the 1983-88 generation though as only Wikipedia states the name originated during the late 1980s.
